Supermodel Naomi Campbell, in a new episode of her Being Naomi series on YouTube, confirmed that the 2024 Met Gala would be her last Met Gala and she will not be attending the haute couture fundraising festival in the upcoming years.

Naomi Campbell's confirmation comes a week before the 2025 Met Gala on May 5. In the video, she takes viewers behind the scenes of her preparations for the last Met, while noting,

"This is my last Met. It is my last. I can't...I'm too old. It's too much for me, the anxiety."

When her assistants look at her in disbelief, with one of them asking Naomi, her "Famous last words", the supermodel replies,

"I don't know what number this is, I think it could be either 20 or 21, can you imagine."

The 54 year old supermodel turned heads as she flaunted a Burberry turquoise gown, for the 2024 theme: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. While talking about the theme for the event, Naomi Campbell said, "I don't follow themes, sorry. I just flow."

The Met Gala, which was earlier called the Costume Institute Benefit, is the annual haute couture fundraising festival, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan.

The Gala is chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who has been serving as the editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine since 1988. Another reason behind Naomi's absence is speculated to be her strained relationship with Wintour.

What happened between Naomi Campbell and Anna Wintour?

54-year-old Supermodel Naomi Campbell and 75-year-old Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour have known each other for decades. However, the two clashed horns at the Fashion Show & Style Awards held at Harlem's Fashion Row Agency in New York in September 2024.

Wintour allegedly mocked Naomi Campbell for her tardiness, as she introduced her, leading to Campbell shrug her off. While speaking to the audience, Wintour said,

"I am a very punctual person, and I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late."

Wintour then went on to add that she considers Naomi Campbell as "one of the fearless people" she knows, and that her courage "was evident at the very, very start of her career"

She then said,

"I can tell you that being on the recieving end of that fearlessness can be - oh, what can I say? Quite exciting. But it's her honesty that makes her incredible to be around, a muse and inspiration for designers."

Naomi while acknowleding Anna's remarks took the stage and responded that saying, "Yes, Naomi's always late."

A source present at the event, while speaking exclusively to The Post in an article published on September, 2024, revealed that while Campbell was not late to the event, she arrived just when Wintour was about to leave. The Vogue editor left early from the event to attend the US Open.
