Courtney Love has revealed plans to become a citizen of the United Kingdom, and she has implied that Trump’s administration has something to do with it. The California-born singer was a guest speaker at the Royal Geographical Society in London on March 17, 2025, where she spoke to the audience about living in the UK and her plans to acquire British citizenship.

According to Daily Mail, she stated:

“'I’m really glad I’m here. It's so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen - I'm applying, man! Can't get rid of me!'

As the audience cheered her on, Love, Nirvana lead singer, Kurt Cobain's widow, criticized the Trump administration, describing the newly-elected president and his team as “emperors.”

'In terms of Trump, and particularly this group... it's like emperor-core - like, [they're] wearing million-dollar watches.

'Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It's frightening now. It's like cyanide now.'

Courtney Love, renowned for her time as the front woman for the Hole band, has been living in London since 2019. She moved there from Los Angeles.

Courtney Love has settled in comfortably since relocating to London in 2019 during Donald Trump’s first term as president

The 60-year-old has been making the most of her residence in London. In 2022, her townhouse was featured in a Soho House article, and she was excited to share her morning routine with fans and viewers:

“I brew some rare tea (speedy English breakfast) and down my smoothie (containing cistus, Viennese peat, probiotic, algae, chlorella, coriander), and a shot of raw kefir,” she said at the time.

She continued to describe her activity-packed morning:

“I feed the animals, then I hit my knees and chant daimoku to my Gohonzon in my altar room for 20 to 45 minutes. After which, I’ll face the day.”

Before relocating to London in 2019 during Trump's first term, Courtney Love had predicted where she would settle and expressed that she loved the idea of country life:

'I know I’m going to end up there. I know what neighborhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames. I subscribe to this magazine called Country Life, which is just real-estate p*** and fox hunting. It’s amazing.'

Other Hollywood celebrities who have left America since Trump won the election in November 2024, include Ryan Gosling and their wife, Eva Mendes, Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, and wife, Portia de Rossi.
