Tesla CEO Elon Musk was a recent guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast PowerfulJRE. The two personalities discussed various socio-political issues of the time, including the role and efficacy of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Speaking about the role of this technology in medical science, Musk said:

“I think AI actually be very helpful with medical stuff because AI can look at you, all the studies and look at all the data, cross-check everything and give you good recommendations.”

Elon Musk continued:

“I mean even as it is like right now you can upload like your X-Rays and your MRI images to Grok and it will give you a medical diagnosis and that diagnosis from what I have seen is at least as good as what, if not I think. I have certainly seen cases where it’s actually better than what doctors tell you.”

Elon Musk explained that users can take a photo of their blood test results, upload it to Grok, and receive an analysis indicating potential issues. So far, he hasn't seen the AI provide incorrect information.

He also pointed out that some doctors in expensive offices might recommend unnecessary treatments, advising skepticism, especially when dealing with medical professionals in high-end locations like Beverly Hills. Rogan asked how Musk’s expectations of the technology have changed, to which he replied:

“Well, I always thought AI was going to be way smarter than humans and an existential risk and that’s turning out to be true.”

Elon Musk wanted OpenAI to stand in opposition to Google

Elon Musk claimed that OpenAI was originally his idea, including its name, which was meant to represent open-source artificial intelligence. However, he noted that the company has since shifted to a closed-source, profit-driven model, highlighting the irony of its transformation.

He initially wanted OpenAI to counter Google, believing the tech giant wasn’t prioritizing AI safety. When asked about Grok AI, Elon Musk described it as aiming to seek truth, even if that truth might be considered politically incorrect.

He criticized AI models like OpenAI and Google Gemini for producing inaccurate or overly biased responses, citing an example where an AI-generated image of the Founding Fathers was misrepresented. He warned that programming AI with rigid diversity mandates could lead to extreme and unintended outcomes.

Musk emphasized the need for AI to maintain a balanced perspective, avoiding extreme comparisons, such as claiming misgendering is more serious than nuclear war. He also predicted rapid advancements in AI, suggesting that within a year or two, AI could surpass the intelligence of the smartest human.

He estimated that by 2029 or 2030, AI might be "smarter than all humans combined".

According to Cryptopolitan, Elon Musk recently introduced Grok 3, claiming it outperforms many AI models. He described it as highly intelligent at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, a week before its launch.

However, the beta version had several issues, including an inappropriate suggestion regarding Donald Trump and restricting criticism of Musk. xAI’s head of engineering, Igor Babuschkin, reportedly called it a major failure.
