Elon Musk is doubling down on his bombshell claims that Joe Biden is the reason behind Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore being stranded in space.

The SpaceX CEO congratulated his company and NASA for bringing the astronauts home via the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft after nine months at the International Space Station, referring to it as "another safe astronaut return." He also thanked his friend, President Trump, “for prioritizing and expediting the return.”

“Thanks to the excellent work of the SpaceX team working with NASA, the astronauts are now safely home. And so congratulations to the SpaceX NASA teams on excellent work,” Musk said during an exclusive interview on Hannity Tuesday.

Elon Musk then told Hannity:

"We definitely offered to return the astronauts earlier. There's no question about that. SpaceX could have brought the astronauts back after a few months at most, and we made that offer to the Biden administration. It was rejected for political reasons, and that's just a fact."

Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams had been stranded on the International Space Station since June 2024, though their mission was only scheduled for one week post the launch of Boeing’s first astronaut flight.

However, citing technical issues, NASA determined it was unsafe for them to return to Earth via the spacecraft. They then made their touchdown in Florida this Tuesday, just before 6 p.m. ET.

Shortly after he took office, Trump also blasted Biden for allegedly failing to act sooner in a post on social media, as reported by The New York Post:

"I have just asked Elon Musk and @SpaceX to ‘go get’ the 2 brave astronauts who have been virtually abandoned in space by the Biden Administration. They have been waiting for many months on @Space Station. Elon will soon be on his way. Hopefully, all will be safe. Good luck Elon!!!”

After the two astronauts landed, SpaceX and NASA officials held a news conference on the same day. There, Deputy Associate Administrator, NASA Space Operations Mission Directorate Joel Montalbano was probed about the claims that the Biden administration acted based on political intent, prompting the following response from him:

“Yeah, so I wasn’t involved in any conversations with the previous administration,” Montalbano said. “It was clear we had a request from the current administration, and the results you saw are what we saw today with the landing of Crew-9.”

Speaking with Sean Hannity, however, Elon Musk doubled down on his claims:

"The astronauts were only supposed to be there for eight days, and they’ve been there for almost ten months. So, obviously, that doesn’t make any sense."

At the time of writing, the Biden administration has yet to address these claims.
