Singer and songwriter Benson Boone opened for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in June 2024. The show was held at London’s Wembley Stadium. Speaking to Rolling Stone on March 11, 2025, Boone shared he was unfamiliar with Swift’s work. He said:

“I didn’t even know much about her. Her team reached out, and I literally, like, sh*t my pants. I could not believe it. It was insane, so I started listening to more of her music. I didn’t want to go to that show and not know anything.”

Benson Boone was impressed by the Love Story singer's talent and the fan base for her performances. Although he was amazed by the scale of her show, he said people don't get to see the behind-the-scenes elements. Nonetheless, he thinks that Taylor Swift is a one-of-a-kind artist and immensely kind.

He recounted the moment he spoke to her, even though for some time. Taylor Swift gave him a shoutout on stage, which he felt was impactful for him. Benson Boone said the experience changed his outlook.

He developed a perception of how he wanted to treat people in his career. While he knew that not everyone was a fan of Swift, he believed it was not right to judge her without knowing her personally.

In an interview with Billboard in 2024, Boone was asked about his experience opening for Taylor Swift. He said:

“Insane. She is amazing. She is so kind. Everything she does, everything she touches turns to gold. So, I was just happy to be a part of one show.”

Benson Boone’s music: favorites, piano and belief system

Benson Boone was a big pop music fan before he became a singer. He grew up in Monroe, Washington, spending more time outdoors. Music was a part of his daily life, especially when he and his four sisters would clean the kitchen while listening to a Pandora playlist based on Hooked on a Feeling. About his favorite musicians, he said:

“I always loved Justin Bieber and One Direction. I mean, I was too embarrassed to admit it to my friends. Honestly, I was probably a bigger fan of them than any of my sisters.”

During the interview, Benson Boone said he prefers to write music on a baby grand piano that once belonged to his late great-grandmother. Many of his first songs, including In the Stars, were emotional ballads, with that particular track as a tribute to his great-grandmother.

At first, this style felt natural, but as he developed his stage presence, he realized he had too much energy to perform only slow songs. Boone struggled with wanting to create exciting performances while feeling tied to deeply emotional piano pieces.

Meanwhile, Benson Boone prefers to form his beliefs rather than follow a single faith. His views are a mix of different religious teachings and personal perspectives. He observed how people in church shared stories of spiritual experiences, but he never felt the same strong presence they described. So, he confided in a friend, who said even he felt the same way.
