Hours ago, the Queen of Pop, Madonna, posted a series of photos on her feed and a lengthy text on her Instagram stories. The text is from Madonna's new short film called Funeral Rites. The short film is directed by Ricardo Gomes and the visuals were aided by Roitfeld and Steven Klein, a photographer.
Some have speculated that the story behind this short film was inspired by Madonna's mother who passed away when she was just 30 years old due to breast cancer. The note on Madonna's Instagram story reads:
"When I was a child my mother died. Seeing her beautiful face in the open casket and kissing her red lips to say goodbye, left a haunting memory. A deep longing. A terrible fear of abandonment. I would follow my father everywhere reminding him that if he ever died I wanted to be buried with him."

In Madonna's recent Instagram post, she added a series of haunting images which included one where the pop star is draped in jewels. In another photo, she hold a gun. She also posed with a model dressed as a nun, as Madonna smiles and bares her fangs. In the last picture, Madonna is seen lying on her side on top of a tombstone in a cemetery.
The text on her Instagram story continues:
"I became fascinated with cemeteries. I was not afraid of death because I knew this was the only way I could be with my mother again. As life went on I lost many people that I loved dearly, and came to look at death as kind of a doorway to eternal life."
Madonna gets creative by turning her words into visuals through the photography at the cemetery and on film.

The experience of losing a loved one at a young age gave Madonna the strength she needed when she lost loved ones later in life. In simple words, she accepted death and goodbyes, stating in her story:
"I would bury my fear of abandonment before it could overtake me."
To deal with this loss, she writes:
"I found solace visiting other people's graves. Trying to connect to the souls of all the loved ones. I wanted to reassure them that they were not alone. None of us are. 'We are all married to God.' That's what sister Mary Theresa always used to say to me."
Madonna's story post ended with her reminding herself what sister Mary Theresa told her,
"Bury your fear. Bury your fear" she concluded.
Madonna's short film is available on her official YouTube channel if you want to watch. On the music side of things, Madonna is working on re-releasing her 1994 album, Bedtime Stories. Koi Moi reports that Madonna's net worth in 2024 is around $850 million as per Celebrity Net Worth.
