Basketball player, LiAngelo Ball, responded to the rumor about him being a “deadbeat” father. The player appeared on the Baller Alert podcast on February 26, 2025, to discuss basketball, his career in rapping, and his future, among other topics. When one of the hosts asked the craziest thing, he heard about himself, Ball replied:
“Crazy as sh*t? That I don’t like the most. Sh*t I don’t like is when n**g*s try to say I am like a deadbeat pops or something cause I be with my young n**g*s every day for real. I raised them up. I don’t know. I feel like a lot sh*t be misleading sometimes, you know.”
He continued:
“Other things too. You know, everybody say something but I don’t get too worked up for I don’t be mad over than. I really don’t go on my sh*t. I just do a performance and pull my phone down and hang out with the gang see what’s happening.”
Media reports suggest that his statement was in response to his former partner's claims that he was not a good father. Earlier this month, LiAngelo Ball’s ex, Nikki Mudarris, accused him of being unfaithful and leaving their two children.
Mudarris reportedly shared on Instagram that after being together for over three years, he suddenly left and started a new life with someone else. She expressed her shock and heartbreak but said she needed to stay strong for their kids.
Mudarris and Ball have two children, LaVelo Anthony Ball, 2 years; and LaNiyah Nicole Ball, 2 months. In response to her claims, LiAngelo Ball denied abandoning his children, stating in a comment that he loves all of them.
LiAngelo Ball discussed his motivation to pursue a career in music
In the podcast, LiAngelo Ball said he never planned to pursue rap, but his idea changed when his song, Tweaker, went viral After playing it on a live stream, he woke up to overwhelming demand from fans.
Seeing the momentum, he quickly built a team and began making industry moves, securing meetings within days. He acknowledged that his rise might have upset some people but wasn’t bothered by it.
As Tweaker gained popularity, several artists, including Moneybagg Yo, NLE Choppa, and Boosie, showed interest in a remix. However, Ball had one artist in mind, Lil Wayne, who he grew up listening to and considered the greatest.
LiAngelo Ball's experience in the league helped prepare him for performances, as he compared concerts to basketball games. The main difference, he noted, is that music allows him to be himself.
In the case of basketball, there are restrictions on what players can say or do. He also pointed out that while basketball has a specific fanbase, music reaches people worldwide, even those who don’t speak the same language.
With Tweaker still trending, LiAngelo Ball teased even bigger tracks in the works, including Shook the Game and Booted Up. He credited his father’s advice about handling real pressure in life for keeping him grounded. On tough days, he finds relief by walking and engaging in other activities like finishing a song in just a couple of hours.
