Tory Lanez, who has been imprisoned for the 2020 felony shooting case against Megan Thee Stallion, is calling on everyone to separate the art from the artists.

The rapper, who dropped his album Peterson from behind bars, took to Instagram to pen the following message over a black screen:

"Separate art from the artist and just enjoy your life... it's really not that deep g lol."

The internet has since begun reacting with mixed sentiments, though a large number of people are pointing out that the rapper, who has categorically maintained his innocence, is now calling on everyone to focus on his art alone. Here's what one user penned on Instagram, for instance:

"People need to realize you can not separate the two! Supporting the art of a person is ultimately supporting the person," one Instagram user echoed.
"Oh them album stream numbers must be low 😂," yet another jested.

Tory Lanez says Chris Brown helped him financially, says his latest album is "for prisoners, by a prisoner"

Tory Lanez's latest album, Peterson, recently peaked at No. 25 on the US Billboard 200. He first revealed that an album was imminent during an interview on the Full Send podcast. At the time, he described it "the first in-real-time prison album… recorded in prison, for prisoners, by a prisoner." He said at the time:

"An album that's recorded in prison, for prisoners, by a prisoner in real time as a prisoner is going through his real-time sentence. And it's professional. It's going to sound exactly like a Tory Lanez album. But just, the pain is there, the hunger is there. You know, the tears, the cries are there. It's a lot of emotion into it, but it's the first ever professionally recorded prison album. This has never been done before."

The Canadian singer recently showed some love to Chris Brown on T.D.F x L.A. County Jail for allegedly backing him up financially and covering his legal fees.

“Where was you n—-s when I was in Cali fed up with no covers to bundle up/ Only real n—a that helped me was Chris Brown, that really my brother,” he raps.

In Free Tory, he addressed his legal woes and more:

“I had no real, like, access to my funds. I was fed up and my lawyer wanted over, like, a quarter million to represent me for the appeal,” he said. “So, you know, I start hollering at all my rap friends, my celebrity friends, and nobody was there.” Tory continued: “N—-s treating me like I was dead and this n—a Chris Brown — I’ll never forget it — this n—-a Chris Brown came out of nowhere. He just gave me the money. He said, ‘Look, bro, when you get outside, holla at me. Hope you come home.’ That’s a real n—a, bro.”

At the time of writing, it remains to be confirmed if Chris Brown did indeed help Tory Lanez financially. The latter has been behind bars since 2020, after he was convicted of first-degree assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He is serving a 10-year stint behind bars.
