British actress Millie Bobby Brown opened up about her desire to play Britney Spears in a future biopic. On February 25, 2025, she spoke to Access Hollywood at the premiere of her new film, The Electric State, which will be released on March 14, 2025.
The interviewer then asked her about her opinions regarding her new era, popular as “Millie Bobby Blonde.” She noted that she could pick the 90s hairstyle but was surprised that fans noticed it. Concerning her blonde look, the interviewer asked if she would portray Britney Spears, to which Millie Bobby Brown replied:
“She is an absolute icon. I would love nothing more than to be a part of her story but that’s her story and I am, you know, in full support of her bringing her story to life.”
Despite her desire, she said she would want to do the job just like how Britney Spears would have liked. Millie Bobby Brown said:
“How she wants to, absolutely. I mean I would not want that. You know, I would want somebody bring it life in the most beautiful way so I can, you know, I would always be open to something like that.”
According to Rolling Stone, Emma Roberts and Addison Rae have both expressed admiration for Britney Spears, with Roberts once saying it would be a dream role for her.
She recalled spending hours memorizing Spears' album In the Zone. Meanwhile, Rae previously shared that she doesn’t believe anyone could truly portray Spears, as her impact on music and entertainment is unmatched.
Millie Bobby Brown feels she could tell Britney Spears’s story the right way
In 2022, when Millie Bobby Brown appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, she shared that she would love to portray Britney Spears in a biopic because she felt a strong connection to her story. Speaking with Barrymore, she explained that growing up in the spotlight and watching Spears' videos and interviews made her relate to the singer’s experiences. Brown added:
“I see the scramble for words and I don't know her, but when I look at pictures of her, I feel like I could tell her story in the right way and hers only.”
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of The Electric State, Brown reflected on her blonde era again. When asked whether she was inspired by the character she portrayed to become blonde or the other way around, Millie Bobby Brown said she became blonde for filming the movie. However, she said:
“And then I went back to my brunette and then the press tour was coming up and I wanted people, I wanted people to just feel like I am, they are watching the same character on the red carpet.”
Millie Bobby Brown also expressed that portraying Britney Spears would be an incredible honor, but she leaves that possibility to fate.
