Jon Stewart delivered a fiery monologue during the recent The Daily Show episode.
The veteran comedian and political commentator called out the Trump White House while reporting on DOGE budget cuts. Stewart started his rant about the Biden administration’s price negotiations with pharma companies and smashed his “World's Most Dad” mug on the table. The mug broke into pieces, and Jon accidentally sliced his hand. After a few seconds, Stewart took his hand off the table and said,
“I’ll be going to the hospital. [Laughs]”
The injury didn’t stop Jon Stewart from ranting against pharmaceutical prices. He even called the Biden administration’s negotiation with pharma firms the “worst Shark Tank Deal in the history.”
Later, during his rant, Stewart even showed his bloodied hand on screen for a moment, which was met with gasps from the audience. The anchor claimed, ‘It’s fine,” and moved his hand off the table again immediately.
Ahead of the episode’s broadcast, Jon Stewart had cheekily referenced his injury in an X post,
“We’re back! New Daily Show tonight! It’s a bloody good episode…emphasis on bloody…I’m an idiot…”

Jon Stewart’s monologue and satirical news report were primarily focused on budget cuts done by DOGE. The comedian hinted how he was on board with increasing the government's efficiency,
“I, too, believe the government needs to be more efficient to weed out waste fraud and abuse. And deliver the necessary services that Americans rely on more agile.”
Stewart lambasted the Trump administration and Elon Musk, whom he referred to as “Nick Cannon of white people.” The longtime The Daily Show host commented on the termination of federal workers,
“It's like we are treating public servants as some kind of underclass.”
He further suggested that public servants should not be demonized, referencing statements from Karli Lake, Charlie Kirk, Jesse Watters, Donald Trump, and more. Apart from criticizing DOGE for its budget cuts, Jon Stewart made some suggestions to the department.
Stewart concluded his monologue with a bloodied hand, but it is unclear whether he visited the hospital later. A representative of Comedy Central later told The Hollywood Reporter that The Daily Show anchor was "Ok."
It is not the first time Stewart has bled during a performance. In 2011, while doing a skit on US Rep Anthony Weiner, the host accidentally shattered glass and cut his wrist.
