On March 10, 2025, the South Korean YouTube account Garosero Research Institute uploaded a video claiming that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a six-year relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron. The video reveals that her aunt claimed Soo-hyun sought cash compensation from Sae-ron after their separation.
For those unaware, the Korean actress Kim Sae-ron died on February 16, 2025, and reportedly her cause of death was su*c*de.
Following their video, Garosero Research Institute also released a statement via their community section of their YouTube channel. As reported by Koreaboo, their statement called out Kim Soo-hyun and said that they can easily expose him.
“Due to the stupid and shameless Kim Soo Hyun, I have no choice but to expose him again today. Because I am busy working hard to oppose the impeachment of President Yoon Seok Yeol… I was going to end the broadcast yesterday, but since Kim Soo Hyun has started talking about false facts, I’ll briefly reveal two photos today.”
The YouTube channel claimed that Soo-hyun dated Sae-ron when she was 15.
“Kim Soo Hyun, who dated a 15-year-old middle school student, will never be able to enter the U.S. again. Even world star BTS couldn’t say anything to Garosero. Chinese star Kim Soo Hyun is nothing.”
Lastly, Garosero Research Institute demanded a public apology from the actor in their statement. They additionally suggested Soo-hyun to avoid disseminating false information about the late actress.
“I hope Kim Soo Hyun will publicly apologize to Kim Sae Ron’s bereaved family and shut up before Garosero comes back with something even stronger.”
Kim Sae-ron’s aunt opened up about her relationship to Kim Soo-hyun
Kim Se-ui of Garosero Research Institute has revealed an alleged relationship between Kim Sae-ron and actor Kim Soo-hyun. During a phone discussion with Kim Se-ui, the aunt stated that Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun started seeing each other in 2015, when Sae-ron was 15 and Soo-hyun was 27. Their affair lasted six years, ending in 2021.
In 2019, Sae-ron joined Kim Soo-hyun's management firm, GOLD MEDALIST, instead of renewing her contract with YG Entertainment. According to the aunt, the couple split up in 2022, after Kim Sae-ron’s DUI (driving under the influence) mishap made headlines.
When Sae-ron first stated that she would handle the problem on her own, Soo-hyun and GOLD MEDALIST volunteered to step in. So Kim Sae-ron relented and allowed the management to intervene. GOLD MEDALIST then paid 700 million KRW (about $483,000) in compensation and did not pursue any kind of repayment from the actress.
Later, in 2024, the actress was allegedly sent a notice to repay the 700 million KRW. Kim Sae-ron was taken aback when she attempted to contact Kim Soo-hyun, but he did not return her calls, as per Sae-ron's aunt. Faced with the financial strain of compensation imposed by Soo-hyun’s agency, the actress ended her life in February of this year.
Kim Sae-ron was discovered dead by a friend on February 16, 2025, at 16:54 (KST), in her residence in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul. Police officers reportedly declared her death a su*c*de the next day after an inquiry.
