A Nintendo Direct that focuses on Mario Kart World is forthcoming.
Fans may be thrilled to know that the Direct is scheduled for tomorrow, April 16, at 6 am PT/9 am ET. The official Nintendo X channel announced that its runtime would be "roughly 15 minutes," though at the time of writing, it remains unclear just what fans can expect as an announcement.
Fans have since begun reacting to the news with glee, though a large number of users still can't get past the hefty price tag that comes with the game. For the unversed, Mario Kart World drops on June 5, right alongside Nintendo Switch 2, and retails for $80 in the United States. Here's how one fan reacted on X:
"I can hardly wait"
The comments didn't end there:
"When will it be enough we got 26 Mario kart games," someone quipped.
"Everything we've seen this far says this game will deliver on being an incredible launch title. I still don't know if it justifies the $90 price tag, but I guess we will just have to wait and see," another opined.
"Looks like they've done their best at taking an at-first-view simple title and transformed it into a next gen experience. It certainly looks like fun, but I remain that the cost is a bit too high," one more noted.
"Nintendo has 15 minutes to convince people that Mario Kart World is worth $80. And the franchise is so awesome that it might just pull it off..." one more posited.
Here's how the rest of X is reacting:
"Time to see if that $80 price tag is deserved or not," someone quipped.
"I can’t wait for the live chat to be filled with lower the price again, because I bet it will happen," one more added.
"i WILL watch this. i DO NOT care what anyone says," another fan chimed in.
"Waking up at 6 AM for a Nintendo Direct? Only Mario Kart could get me out of bed that early," yet another quipped.
Users were visibly teeming with excitement over tomorrow's event, though a large number of them voiced their frustrations with the accompanying price tag.
Everything we know about Nintendo's upcoming Mario Kart World Direct:
For those looking to attend the Direct, where you can expect an “in-depth look” at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, you can head on over to the Nintendo Direct website or the Nintendo UK YouTube channel.
The latter will livestream the broadcast, though alternatively, you can watch the Mario Kart World Direct on your phone simply by downloading the Nintendo Today! app. Fret not, the app is free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
As for what fans can expect, Nintendo will undoubtedly show off the battle royale-style Knockout Tour mode, Free Roam, and more. During a previous Treehouse: Live stream, the company teased fans with the claim that "there is more to Free Roam mode" than what was known thus far, encouraging fans to watch the Direct.
Only time will tell what the company has in store for fans, and in the meantime, they can only hope for a better look at the Mario Kart World character roster, among other things.
