Rapper Clifford Joseph Harris Jr, aka T.I.’s eldest son with Lashon Dixon, Messiah ‘Buddy Red’ Harris, is expecting his first child with partner Felicity. According to an exclusive report by BCK, the young couple is expecting a daughter. In February 2025, the family had a baby shower to celebrate the news.
While Buddy Red is 25 years old, his partner’s age is unknown. Their daughter will be T.I.’s fourth grandchild. The Live Your Life singer became a grandfather in 2020 when his stepdaughter Zonnique Pullins had a baby girl. Later, his son Domani also welcomed a daughter. Most recently, his son King had a baby boy, King Harris Jr., on November 5, 2024.
In a 2019 Instagram post, T.I. reflected on how becoming a father at 19 changed his life. He recalled selling dr*gs when he first learned about Messiah’s arrival. He had already secured a record deal and was working on his debut album by the time his son was born. He credited Messiah for putting him on a better path.
Buddy Red is an actor and musician. He has appeared in films like The Products of the American Ghetto (2018) and Sons 2 the Grave (2022). As a blues singer, he released the single You Know in April 2023 and made his live performance debut in November 2022.
Buddy Red was inspired by Bohemian Rhapsody
Buddy Red was a recent guest on the Portia Show where he shared a glimpse into his growing up and singing. When Portia Bruner asked him about his experiences of growing up and creating a niche for himself, he said:
“I first wanted to be a producer and I remember telling my pops like, ‘I think I want to make music. I want to make beats.’ Because you can be behind the spotlight and make a beat for the person in the spotlight.”
Buddy Red explained that many people assumed he avoided the spotlight, but in reality, he was still figuring out who he was. Being known primarily as T.I.’s son made it difficult for him to establish his own identity. For a long time, people didn’t even recognize his real name, which affected his confidence and sense of self.
His perspective shifted when he started making beats, and a turning point came when he watched Bohemian Rhapsody, the film about Queen and Freddie Mercury. The music in the movie introduced him to classic rock, and he realized he wanted to be on stage rather than just producing.
He then committed to learning it by taking weekly lessons. Speaking of singers he listened to, Buddy Red said:
“First I started listening to Queen because I saw the movie and they were my introduction into this music and then I discovered that Blues is the root of rock and roll so I started getting into Blues like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton and stuff.”
Unsure of which instrument to play, he ultimately chose the guitar and quickly bought one before second-guessing himself. Buddy Red shared that he prefers to work on things independently before revealing them to his father. He wanted to gain experience first since his father appreciates seeing results rather than just hearing about plans.
