YouTuber and media personality MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, recently shared the financial stage of his career. During a conversation with Steven Bartlett on the The Diary Of A CEO podcast, the YouTuber was asked about his business empire. He replied that he made nine figures from his chocolate and snack brand “Feastables.”
Bartlett then suggested that his business must have a worth of several millions of dollars ultimately claiming that he was a billionaire. MrBeast replied:
“On paper, yeah, but I mean in my actual bank account, I have less than a million dollars, so..”
According to reports by Celebrity Net Worth, Donaldson’s monthly earnings are $50 million. When Bartlett asked whether he paid himself, he replied “a little bit,” adding he got assistance for certain aspects of his business. So, he would pay himself whatever he personally spent in a month to stay even.
Bartlett wanted to know Donaldson’s approach towards money implying how he was different from others because most people would earn money to safeguard their future. However, the YouTuber’s idea of money is that of a fuel that helps grow a business. MrBeast said:
“You find a business that you enjoy, that, you know, is better for mother nature, earth or people and there you go, you have a fulfilled life. That’s my theory. I just don’t, when I am 70, I don’t want to look back and have regrets, you know.”
According to Donaldson, any amount of money is not “enough” to build a business, and he compared it to a video game.
MrBeast said he spent over $15 million on the first episode of Beast Games
MrBeast revealed he lost a lot of money on the Beast Games. He said it wasn’t an ideal financial decision he made as he would have had more money if he hadn’t filmed it. However, throughout the process, he built a good relationship with the streaming platforms.
Donaldson said he got calls from the streaming platforms to have a meeting with him. Regarding the expenses in Beast Games, he said:
“So, episode one, we spent over $15 million on those towers building them all. That was the most towers ever built, the most hydraulic press or whatever used. I mean that set was f*cking crazy man. We had to build a 1000 towers that were ten feet tall, safety test them all, put like get it where they actually work. We had to literally hard-wire them all and build like our own software where we could drop people.”
MrBeast said the second episode had a set of a city worth 14 million dollars. When Bartlett asked about Donaldson’s overall expenses in the show, he said he was advised against disclosing it. However, he said money wasn’t everything as building and managing was “infinitely” difficult.
MrBeast said the upside of the show was that the better the first season performed, the more money would flow in for the next seasons. Nonetheless, in the next ten years, he would like to have two billion subscribers on YouTube, Feastables would rescue kids out of child labor and he looked forward to a few more businesses he was passionate about.
