Batman: Arkham is a series of 11 games (as reported by Wikipedia) based on DC Comics hero, Batman, and released by Rocksteady Studios. The first game, Batman: Arkham Asylum was released by Rocksteady in 2009, according to IGN. Well-received by gamers, the game garnered positive reviews. A contributor to Eurogamer wrote of the game,

“Atmospheric. Varied. Addictive.”

The sequel was readily announced in 2009 itself. The game director, Sefton Hill was quoted in IGN as gearing up for another edition of Batman: Arkham. He said,

“We are honored to create the next chapter in this compelling story and promise to deliver another game worthy of the DARK KNIGHT.”

Esports has provided a handy list of all the Batman: Arkham games which include the first release of 2009, Batman: Arkham Asylum, followed by 2011’s Arkham City. The third edition, Arkham City Lockdown, was released in 2011 itself. Three follow-ups were launched in 2013 — Arkham Origins, Arkham Origins (mobile), and Arkham Origins Blackgate. Fans and gamers received Arkham Knight in 2015 and Arkham Underworld in 2016, the VR version of which was also launched in the same year. After a long hiatus, two games were released in 2024 — Arkham VR and Arkham Shadow.

Kai Cenat’s Batman: Arkham Marathon

Kai Cenat officially announced the marathon on his X account on February 20. He was scheduled to start the stream the next day, February 21 at 6 PM EST. Alongside the announcement, Cenat posted a trailer unveiling himself as Batman. In the dramatic and moody trailer, Cenat can be seen donning the bat suit and battling the villains of Arkham. As Thomas Wayne spells out Batman’s destiny, he directly addresses Kai,

“Kai, I ask that you honor the Wayne family legacy. Commit yourself to the improvement of Gotham City. You are young, but destined for great things. Make the most of your opportunities, use them to give back to a city that has given us so much. Invest in Gotham, treat its people like family, watch over them and use this money to safeguard them from forces beyond their control.”

Cenat has jumped on the mission, which for now involves tackling four Batman: Arkham games, namely, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins, Arkham Knight, as announced by Cenat on X.

A possible Kai Cenat and Warner Bros. collaboration?

Cenat had first teased the Batman: Arkham marathon during a September 2024 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice marathon. Dexerto noted that the streamer revealed he was searching for “an underground Batcave” to stream the marathon from.

In January of this year, Cenat shared on a stream that he was working closely with Warner Bros., the studio behind the Batman films and the Batman: Arkham series, to source material and locations for his marathon. He said,

“We’ve been in contact with Warner brothers…They are going to try to help me out. We’ve been scoping caves, real-life caves. We’ve been scoping a whole bunch of real-life things used on actual Batman movies. We’ve been scoping a whole bunch of stuff, from the suits, from the gadgets.”

According to Variety Magazine’s piece on the event, however, credible sources revealed that no partnership between Kai Cenat and the studio was in the works. This put an end to speculation of a collaboration between Cenat and the studio.

Kai Cenat’s gaming marathon live-streams

Apart from the current Batman: Arkham marathon and the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice marathon, Kai Cenat has been known to broadcast live-streams of gaming marathons.

In May, 2024, Cenat started an Elden Ring marathon, which he finally finished after almost 167 hours. On May 18, 2024, Cenat announced on X,

“I FINALLY BEAT ELDEN RING.”

His next marathon challenge was beating Bloodborne, which he achieved in a matter of 30 hours, according to The Gamer.

Kai Cenat’s Batman: Arkham marathon and his commitment to the Batman franchise with the release of the marathon’s epic trailer have led to an array of fan reactions. Now, as the world follows Cenat during the Arkham challenge, we wonder how long it will take until he beats the game.
