What do fans have to say about Disney World's plans to expand Magic Kingdom?

The expansion of Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida will result in many waterbodies under the Rivers of America being affected. Disney World is planning to build Villains Land and a Cars-themed area making this one of Disney World's largest expansions to date.

Netizens are not impressed by this decision to encroach upon the area under the Rivers of America. Here are a few comments that expressed how the public is feeling:

"How is it an expansion if it's using land currently occupied by the Rivers of America, destroying the river, island, riverboat, fort, caves, mill, etc.? The footprint isn't getting larger, so..." @ReplybyMail wrote.

Another X user commented,

"I would be more inclined to be onboard with the cars land if it was just the back half or the river and beyond that was villains land. Loosing the front of the river is like loosing the heartbeat of both liberty square and Frontierland." - @EatingDisney81 expressed.

Some netizens found the news of the expansion unbelievable. They wrote,

"Woah, they're going to do it. I did not think they actually would. Like, they're going through with it. They are actually about to make the absolute biggest mistake they've ever made to one of the most beautiful Disney parks in the world. Good Lord." - @AllStarTours87 articulated.

While another X user is already saying goodbye to the Rivers of America. Their comment reads,

"RIP RoA in Florida..." - @infernoman64 said.

Other users believe that Disney World is doing what must be done to move forward in terms of developing Magic Kingdom. Have a look at a few of their comments:

"What is sad is this is progress for Disney World, they have to compete and progress onward, yet people will complain over anything." - @BaseJacobD chimed in.
"Disney fans can’t be happy with anything anymore they ask for new things and when we get new things they just complain" - @Christi77993757 commented.

Regarding the expansion of the Magic Kingdom in Florida, Disney Experiences Chairman, Josh D’Amaro expressed,

"Since the beginning, our Disney Villains have given us endless possibilities to tell new stories... In this new land, you’ll see storytelling on a grand scale that only Disney can deliver"

He added,

As we develop the next generation of Disney Experiences, we’re always looking for new ways to tell the stories people love... We’re thrilling Cars fans by building on this incredibly successful franchise and creating the next chapter in this story.
