YouTuber and rapper DDG, aka. Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., has opened up about his issues surrounding Halle Bailey and son Halo. During a recent livestream on March 9, 2025, Darryl explained why he didn’t want to get involved in a legal battle over his son’s custody. He said:
“I don’t want to go to court, that’s my whole thing like going to court makes everything even more messy than what it is. Then, you go to tell the judge real personal info then folks get real social get the looking up stuff, get to see what’s really going on cause I really ain’t telling nobody nothing for real. I just said I just want to see my son, that’s it and I ain’t been able to see him.”
While some social media users seemed supportive of DDG, others pointed out that he didn’t have a case to take to court. One Instagram user (@attorney_burrell) commented:
“He doesn't want that baby. He just wants a storyline right now.”

Netizens criticized DDG saying he wanted to sway the internet.
“Court comes with accountability and he only wants to sway public opinion. Bye Darryl,” a social media user (@whitneynichelleee) wrote.
“Going to court comes with rules and he don’t want those rules…..the internet is a lot more fun,” a person (@raelawson_no7eleven) shared.
Other Instagram users asked him to stop the social media drama.
“BE CLEAR- there are a lot of BLACK GREAT FATHERS. Stop putting the narrative out there that it’s NOT!!!!!!!!!” an internet user (@tonikam06) commented.
“You be having your son. They are sick and instead you on social media causing unnecessary stress,” an online commentator (@yungnbeautifulxx) opined.
“He talks so much about private things. She really messed up bad with him,” a netizen (@forever_christian) suggested.
DDG said going to court might create conflicts when the matter can be sorted out amicably
DDG expressed frustration over feeling less valued than the nanny, admitting he barely knew her name. He claimed he rarely sees his son, Halo, and prefers to avoid court to prevent unnecessary conflict.
He wants a clear arrangement to spend time with his son:
“We go to court, the judge going to give me some time and when I got the time, I’mma do whatever I want with my son. When you all see me streaming with girls and ya’ll never see my son around, do you? I would never do that, ever. My content has nothing to do with me being a father. I purposely separate him from any of that.”
He also mentioned that taking legal action could upset Halle Bailey and emphasized that he wouldn’t rely on a public defender. DDG believes a judge would recognize him as a responsible father, which he sees as rare in similar cases.
Darryl dismissed negative opinions from people without children and reflected on his long-standing struggles with public scrutiny. Despite the criticism, he remains focused on creating memories with his son and acknowledged his financial success, saying it’s beyond his control.
Reflecting on his last stream, DDG explained that his only intention was to see his son, especially since the child had been sick for three days. He was unsure how his son fell ill and was frustrated that he wasn’t allowed to visit.
He clarified that he was initially invited to see his son, but since he and Bailey don’t get along, they communicate through a family member to arrange visits.
