Houston rapper Sauce Walka was shot in the thigh in Memphis on March 22, 2025. Authorities believe it was a targeted attack outside a hotel near the FedExForum. The incident also led to the death of another person.

His father, Albert Walker, has confirmed that his son is expected to make a full recovery and he expressed gratitude that Sauce Walka survived the attack. The rapper is currently in stable condition at a hospital as per a report made by Billboard.

"Had it not been for God, my son would've been dead," he told KHOU 11 News.

The Memphis Police Department is investigating the case and has issued an alert for a white four-door car seen leaving the scene. Police say this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence. According to People Magazine, the MPD issued a statement saying,

"We want to assure our community and visitors that downtown Memphis is a safe place. This incident was not a random act of violence,"

What happened during Sauce Walka's shooting?

On the evening of March 22, 2025, Sauce Walka stood outside a hotel close to the FedExForum. A shooting occurred, and he was struck in the thigh and witnesses heard several gunshots before they witnessed a white four-door vehicle driving off.

According to Billboard, authorities confirmed another individual lost their life in the attack but the police haven't revealed the name of the victim. They continue to investigate the motive behind the attack.

The rapper was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated and his condition was subsequently confirmed as stable.

What do authorities say about the shooting?

According to Fox26Houston, the Memphis Police Department described the shooting as targeted. They believe he was not the intended victim and they are still investigating the case.

"At approx. 2:42 p.m. today, officers responded to a shooting at 100 block of George W. Lee Ave. One male was pronounced deceased, and another male was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. This appears to be an isolated incident, not random violence. Officers have identified the suspect vehicle, and are actively working to make an arrest,” said the Memphir Police Department

Police have not released the name of the person who died and are working to confirm the identities of those involved. They have also asked the public for any information about the suspect. Officers have been told to search for a white four-door car. No arrests have been made so far.

How is Sauce Walka doing now?

As per a report by Billboard, Sauce Walka is said to make a full recovery in the hospital.

Support messages shouldered the victim on social media. Others have demanded justice for the deceased victim and they have also shared relief that Sauce Walka was safe.

The police in Memphis are still investigating the incident and the authorities think that this was an attempted assassination.

They are looking for a white four-door vehicle spotted at the scene. There are no suspects as yet. His family states he will be recovering for some time and they have appreciated the support of fans.
