Kanye West's recent viral video in which he laughs about a friend losing his leg has raised eyebrows. In the original clip posted by Hip Hop Ties and circulated on X (Twitter), West reminisces about the episode and can’t help but chuckle, repeating “Man, you could die of laughter, bro.”

This video seems to depict a more intimate setting with Kanye and some acquaintances, which he portrays as an amusing anecdote or as some running gag. Skeptically, many viewers could not fathom the joke: the leg amputation of one of his friends, Rainbet.

Reactions to the video have been split. While some netizens came to the defense of Kanye, claiming that the video is out of context, others worried about the laughter in an otherwise serious clip.

"Kanye the most unserious ngga on the planet dawg. Like why you laughing about a ngga losing his leg." - Wrote 4KT on X.
"Look how happy Kanye West is without his phone." - Wrote Suarez on X.
"Buddy’s geeked." - Wrote Clipper on X.
"Kanye is evil." - Wrote E-Man on X.
"Idk what kanyes on but he needs to stop." - Wrote WavyDavey on X.
"What’s he laughing about." - Wrote Brock on X.

The event has once again brought to life the already existing debates relating to Kanye's public persona, his erratic antics, and the thin line between bluntness and cruelty.

Who is Rainbet?

The "Rainbet" referred to in the video is someone very close to Kanye, although very little is known about him in public.

It is not known when or how Rainbet lost his leg, and it is also not clear whether the story Kanye spoke about was actually a funny situation that took place there, or only with the participants. Owing to the scarce data, the majority of the public reaction has been based on hypothesis rather than the context.

No clarification from Kanye yet

Kanye West has yet to provide his thoughts about the clip or add context to the interaction. The absence of additional details makes it difficult to ascertain if the laughter was due to some in-joke among the participants or was merely a reaction some might label as inappropriate.

Kanye certainly isn’t new to the public, further commenting about his interactions. Back in 2014, West was in the spotlight after asking fans at his Sydney concert to stand up, completely overlooking that some spectators were disabled and couldn’t do so. This situation, just like that one, sparked conversations about awareness and sensitivity when it comes to public conduct.
