Actress and stand-up comedian Jenny Slate reportedly filed a complaint with Human Resources following an interaction with Wayfarer Studios President Jamey Heath that she found uncomfortable. The news came out on a February 21, 2025, report by The Hollywood Reporter.
Slate was among several women mentioned by her co-star Blake Lively in a revised lawsuit against Justin Baldoni. The lawsuit claimed multiple individuals had similar experiences like Lively on the It Ends With Us set.
According to reports, Jenny Slate raised her concerns with Sony after a discussion with Heath about the apartment she had rented in New York City during filming. She wasn’t happy with the space and explained that relocating wasn’t an option since she had already paid a $15,000 security deposit.
In response, Heath allegedly made comments that made her uncomfortable while assuring her that Wayfarer would cover the costs. Sources revealed that Heath talked to her about the importance of motherhood and commented on the actress’s identity as a mother.
Jenny Slate welcomed her only child with fiancé Ben Shattuck in 2021. They named their daughter Ida Lupine Shattuck. During a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in the same year, Slate shared that during her pregnancy, she and Shattuck were particularly fond of a name spelled "B-A-G-R-A-T," even though they ultimately didn’t choose it.
She joked that the pronunciation was likely far more elegant than how they had been saying it. Reflecting on the experience of having a baby during the COVID-19 pandemic, the actress, 38, described it as a significant moment in their lives. Slate mentioned that both of them wore masks during the birth.
Jenny Slate and Ben Shattuck named their daughter after a flower
According to People magazine, Jenny Slate mentioned that she and Shattuck picked the name Ida because they loved it, while Lupine was chosen as a tribute to one of their favorite flowers. In May 2022, she shared that the daily routines played a big role in her life, and becoming a mother reinforced her consistency by adding a sense of responsibility.
She admitted that in the past, she would often skip personal routines if she felt pressed for time, but motherhood had changed that. Previously, Jenny Slate handled her daughter's nightly routine, including bath time, bedtime stories, a bottle, and singing.
Slate also acknowledged that having a child had completely altered her schedule, but she embraced the shift and appreciated the new rhythm in her life.
The legal filing included a message Lively sent in May 2023 to someone connected to Baldoni and Heath. However, it was unclear if Slate was among the recipients of Lively’s texts.
In a statement to Today in 2024, Jenny Slate expressed her unwavering support for Lively, describing her as a dedicated friend and a reliable source of emotional strength.
She emphasized her belief in Lively’s leadership and loyalty while condemning the reported efforts to damage her friend’s reputation. Slate called the situation deeply troubling and praised Lively’s courage, affirming her solidarity with her.
