Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team has filed a motion arguing that the search warrants used to raid his homes were 'unconstitutional.'

The new court filing was submitted in a Manhattan federal court. It seeks to suppress evidence obtained from searches conducted at Combs' residences in Los Angeles and Miami. His lawyers claim that the warrants presented a misleading picture to the public.

The legal battle comes amid charges against Diddy that include sex trafficking. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided his properties in March 2024. Authorities seized a range of items, including narcotics, firearms, and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil, which are allegedly linked to his controversial parties.

Diddy was arrested in September 2024, and he has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin in May 2025.

Who is Sean "Diddy" Combs?

A 55-year-old figure in the global hip-hop industry. Rising to fame in the 1990s, he founded Bad Boy Records and launched artists like The Notorious B.I.G. and Mase. He has gradually expanded into fashion, alcohol brands, and television. Multiple allegations and legal troubles have now overshadowed his career.

Diddy’s lawyers question the investigation

In their latest court filing, Combs’ attorneys argue that the probable cause statements used to secure search warrants were misleading. They claim that it resulted in an unfair portrayal of events.

Per ABC News, the filing has statements like,

(The search warrants) "presented a grossly distorted picture of reality."

Furthermore, in the motion, it was also reportedly claimed that,

"But it worked, the government got its warrants, leaked damaging information, and then executed its military-style raids at Combs's residences. Here, rather than giving the reviewing magistrate a fair summary, the government hid exculpatory evidence to bolster its case."

The defense reportedly alleges that authorities used "systemic deception" to justify the raids as they presented an exaggerated case.

One of the key figures in the investigation, referred to as “Producer-1,” is said to have provided some of the most scandalous claims against Diddy, ABC News reports. 'His' credibility has now been questioned. The defense team has claimed that he had financial incentives to fabricate details.

In March 2024, Homeland Security officials conducted simultaneous raids on Diddy's Los Angeles and Miami homes. Law enforcement seized firearms, substances, and more. The search also included Combs' iCloud accounts, phones, and hotel rooms.

The lawyers argue that authorities intentionally leaked information to damage his public image. They are now requesting that all evidence obtained through these searches be suppressed or, at the very least, that a hearing be held to examine the legality of the warrants.

Federal prosecutors have not yet responded in detail but are expected to do so in formal court filings. The court’s decision on whether to suppress the seized evidence could significantly impact the case.
