Rapper and singer Tory Lanez is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence in connection to shooting Megan Thee Stallion. The incident happened in 2020, and Lanez was found guilty in 2023. According to HotNewHipHop, he hasn’t stopped his work despite his incarceration.

While many thought it would be a legendary idea, others were not so optimistic. For instance, one X user reshared the post by @Kurrco with the caption:

“Boy slow down.”

Netizens shared their excitement about the project, while others worried about his privileges in prison.

“We’re gonna get it whether we want to or not!! Lol,” a social media user commented.
“Can unimagine I just fear this video ages in a sad way,” a person wrote.
“So they took his recording options away.. all I can say is he better not lose his phone privileges. I’m intrigued to see what he can cook up behind bars,” a netizen pointed out.

Many X users anticipated that Tory Lanez’s album would be a hit,t while others highlighted the shortcomings of getting the album out.

“Album from prison. Legendary!” an internet user mentioned.
“and it’ll be a classic,” a fan suggested.
“Drake and Tory would dominate the charts together,” a netizen remarked.
“Like I get it but he just doesn't have the tools right now and he needs to understand that,” another person shared.

Tory Lanez suggested he would record the album on a phone

Tory Lanez said he looked up to Canadian music icons like Drake, PartyNextDoor, and The Weeknd as his inspirations. With all three releasing albums in early 2025, he felt it was his time to represent Canada. He said:

“F*cking PartyNextDoor showed his best work of 2025. F*cking Drake showed his best work of 2025. The Weeknd showed his best work of 2025 and now n**ga, it’s time for me to come out n**ga, even though my circumstance, n**ga. I know the n**ga. I’mma flame all of that sh*t.”

Tony Lanez’s Instagram post tagged musician NYCE, which suggests that Lanez might have had the conversation with him. When he was asked how he would record, Lanez said it would be on the phone. He seemed a little annoyed after being asked these questions because he replied:

“You don’t think I can compete with these n**gas cause n**gas, you don’t have producers and you don’t have the things you had to make a traditional project. Stop acting like I don’t do the impossible all the time. That’s what I do.”

Tory Lanez suggested he was optimistic about releasing the album in three weeks and would seek help from his fans. He added he wouldn't let the logistics stop him from leaving a mark with this album.
