Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are reportedly seeking additional legal protection amidst the ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Their legal team submitted a letter on February 20, 2025, on the couple’s behalf, requesting a comprehensive order.

One of the requests is to reserve certain discovery materials for the legal experts, aka “attorney’s eyes” only. Although self-explanatory, this request limits the viewers of such information. However, it will only be applied to materials that are extremely confidential, sensitive, proprietary, and impersonal in nature. As seen in the letter available online, the criteria reads:

“The person producing any given Discovery Material may designate as Confidential or 'Attorney Eyes Only' only such portion of such material the public disclosure of which is either restricted by law or will cause harm to the business, commercial, financial or personal interests of the producing person and/or a third party, including high-profile individuals, to whom a duty of confidentiality is owed.”

The request stated that Blake Lively, her family, fellow cast members, and others who supported her had received violent and threatening messages. Some of these included profanity, sexism, and direct threats. One witness was even sent a written warning that their family would face harm, including s*xual violence, unless they provided a statement.

The request also highlighted the intense online backlash against Blake Lively. Because of these concerns, her legal team argued that making certain information public could invade their privacy, put them at risk, and create an environment where witnesses might feel intimidated.

According to reports, in response, Justin Baldoni’s team released a statement on February 21, 2025, condemning any harmful rhetoric directed at anyone, regardless of the situation. They also revealed that they had faced threats during the legal battle.

They emphasized that receiving violent messages from anonymous sources was unacceptable and claimed that individuals wrongfully accused by Blake Lively and her team had been subjected to ongoing death threats. Moreover, they had uninvited visits to their homes, including places where young children lived.

Baldoni's legal team stressed that no one, especially private individuals without security protection, should have to experience such harassment.

Blake Lively’s legal team expanded their lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, adding nearly 50 pages to further elaborate on allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation. The updated complaint was filed in a New York federal court just before a judge’s deadline.

It claimed that other women who worked on It Ends With Us also felt uneasy due to Justin Baldoni’s behavior and confided in Lively. Additionally, another female co-star allegedly reported concerns about Baldoni to Sony, the film’s distributor.

After learning that his behavior had caused discomfort, the lawsuit alleged Justin Baldoni contradicted his public stance on feminism and advocacy.

According to the complaint, Blake Lively filed the lawsuit because she was among the women who felt uncomfortable on set due to Baldoni’s actions. It also stated that she was not the only one affected and that both Justin Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer, were aware of the situation.
