“Awww the rejects show!” - Internet reacts to Joy Reid’s appearance on Don Lemon show after MSNBC firing

There have been several incidents in the past not only in the United States but in other parts of the world when journalists were fired from their jobs for their political stances and leanings. Something of that sort recently happened with Joy Reid, a renowned television journalist.

Joy Reid, an African-American television host and political commentator who anchored her show The ReidOut on MSNBC was fired and the reason given by the network was that it was restructuring its programming. Reid has always been critical of President Trump and was vocal about the Black Lives Matter movement. She has also been against the war in Gaza and stood her ground when it came to progressive politics.

After Reid's termination from her job, the president of MSNBC, Rebecca Kutler, in a memo to staff said:

"Joy Reid is leaving the network and we thank her for her countless contributions over the years. Her work has been recognized with several esteemed honors, including most recently, the 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series. In the coming weeks, rotating anchors will host the hour."

The 56-year-old political commentator's views and stances have often ruffled feathers online. Most people on social media took a dig at her, after her termination at MSNBC. An X user commented

The comment was in reference to a post where Reid and Don Lemon, who was also recently fired from CNN, were discussing that the US would lose if it went to war with Canada.

President Donald Trump just a few days back on Truth Social, celebrated Joy Reid's termination from her job and criticized MSNBC. The president said:

"Lowlife Chairman of 'Concast,' Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid.

Trump further added:

"Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been 'canned' long ago, along with everyone else who works there."
