Rapper 50 Cent is up for a hefty wager on A$AP Rocky’s court case. The G-Unit founder had bet $500,000 that the Harlem rapper would walk free, and following Rocky’s 'Not Guilty' verdict, 50 Cent wasted no time in calling out legal journalist Meghann Cuniff, who seemingly took him up on the bet.

50 Cent took to his official Instagram handle to post a screenshot of his initial bet and Cuniff’s response. Tagging Meghann M. Cuniff, he captioned:

"@meghanncuniff I’m a need my money by Monday.”

In the comments, he added:

“Oh my lawyers a find her by Monday.”

The post quickly went viral. For some netizens, it was a thing of amusement, while few of them engaged in online debates. Some questioned whether the bet was serious, others saw it as trolling from the rapper-turned-businessperson. Either way, it was clear to enthusiasts that 50 Cent was reveling in his victory.

Below are what some Instagram users shared on the comment section of the same post:

"ONCE SHE SAID SHE TAKE THAT BET SHE MAY HAVE ENTERED INTO A CONTRACT.. SHE MIGHT LEGALLY OWE THAT," declared a netizen in all caps.
"Petty!!! But nah, get that money though," stated another.
"@meghanncuniff you better get this man his money! You don’t want this beef! lol," joked a third.

The 50 Cent bet that sparked it all

Days before the verdict, 50 Cent publicly expressed confidence that A$AP Rocky would beat the charges. The case stemmed from a 2021 altercation in Hollywood, where Rocky was accused of firing a gun at former friend and A$AP Mob member, Terell Ephron (aka A$AP Relli).

Prosecutors claimed Rocky’s shots grazed Relli’s knuckles, while the defense argued that the rapper had used a prop gun loaded with blanks. The trial, reportedly filled with contradictory testimonies and blurry surveillance footage, ultimately led to an acquittal. The jury took three hours to deliberate before clearing Rocky of all charges.

All Hip Hop reports that before the verdict, 50 Cent had shared a now-deleted post where he said:

“I got ASAP [beating] this case. I’ll bet 500,000 on it… Who want the bet?”

Meghann Cuniff, a reputed legal journalist known for her courtroom coverage, had replied:

“I’ll take that bet.”

Whether Cuniff was serious or sarcastic remains unclear, but 50 Cent seemingly took the comment as an official bet. Once the verdict was in, he took to social media platforms to announce that he expected his payout.

Who is Meghann Cuniff?

For those unfamiliar with Meghann Cuniff, she’s one of the well-known legal reporters in the U.S. Based in Southern California. Cuniff has covered high-profile cases for a long time.

Her X bio reads:

"Independent reporter in Southern California. “arguably the most influential legal journalist working today” (Washington Post)

However, despite 50 Cent’s public demand for payment, Cuniff has remained silent on the matter.
