MrBeast recently hosted the highly anticipated "YouTube Basketball Stars" event, which pitted the English-speaking content creators against their Spanish-speaking counterparts.

The event was the brainchild of MrBeast and Fede Vigevani, and as per Dexerto, it was aired on the latter's YouTube channel on 25 April, 2025 at 4 pm ET/1 pm PT. MrBeast has credited Fede for the inspiration and was all praise for his involvement in a recent post:

"A couple weeks ago, I announced that I'm going to be getting some of the biggest English speaking creators together, to play against some of the biggest Spanish-speaking creators in a game of basketball. So, Fede, he's one of the largest Spanish speaking creators for those of you who don't speak Spanish, and never heard of him. He's massive. I think he has like, over forty million subscribers."

The event was first announced in March and boasted a stellar lineup of content creators from across the globe. The Spanish team boasted of prominent creators such as Fede Vigevani, Manu Ginobili, Eladio Carrion, and Ian Lucas, among others, whereas the English team comprised MrBeast himself, along with Mark Rober, D'Vontay Friga, Marlon, The Stokes Twins, and others.

The spectacle was viewed by millions worldwide who saw the English-speaking contingent coming up trumps in the match 65-55, and there were promises made of more such matches down the line. The event acted as a bridge between two vibrant communities and caught the eyes of fans on social media as well. Users flocked to X to express their sentiments on the cultural sesh:

"Jiminy Christmas its like they are the same person," joked one fan.
"Watch it get more views than the NBA finals," predicted another.
"I feel like the pink team got ripped off on their jersey design..." mocked another fan.
"Not a single 2hype member," lamented a fourth user.

Another talking point from the event was the lineups that each team came up with, and fans gave their two cents on the absurdity of the situation:

"How tf did they get my man manu ginobli" wondered one fan.
“Basketball stars” and literally none of them even ball" quipped another.
"A bunch of dorks that definitely can’t play basketball??" remarked another user.

This wasn't the first instance of content creators venturing into the world of sports, with events such as Sidemen’s charity soccer matches and Spanish creator Ibai Llanos’ Velada del Año boxing events having already laid down the marker. The philanthropic element was only the icing on the cake, as proceeds from the event were to go to as-yet-undisclosed charitable causes.

MrBeast and Fede Vigevani's venture into sports events also paves the way for the possibility of more such collaborations down the line. MrBeast's busy schedule for the upcoming months could put a damper on the proceedings, but fans would surely tune in to watch more such spectacles unfold in real time.
