The Departed actor attended the world premiere of Affleck’s film, The Accountant 2, at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 8, 2025. It is a sequel to the 2016 film, The Accountant, where Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal will be seen reprising their roles. The film has been directed by Gavin O'Connor and written by Bill Dubuque.

The two friends were seen posing for the shutterbugs as Affleck wrapped his arm around Damon, who has co-produced the film through their production company, Artists Equity, as stated by People magazine.

Speaking about their friendship, Affleck told People magazine,

"It's a beautiful thing. You know, I don't have very many— none of us really have very many friends. You don't need a million friends. You need a few good ones. And I'm really lucky to have had a friend in Matt.”

According to a report in Cosmopolitan, Jennifer Lopez, ex-wife of Ben Affleck is reportedly furious on hearing the rumors of a spark between her ex, Affleck, and his former wife, Jennifer Garner, on their recent outing.

A source exclusively told Page Six that Lopez is “not happy with constantly seeing photos” of them, and they are acting like “salt in the wound.” The source added that she’s “furious” and that the situation is “completely messing with her head.”

The rumors emerged when Affleck was seen hanging out with Garner during a paintball session along with their kids at the Combat Paintball Park in Castaic, California, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, reported Page Six.

The exes were seen giggling and appeared to enjoy each other’s company. They were accompanied by their 13-year-old son Samuel. The outlet also reported that the two have been “spending more time together than ever” since he divorced Lopez in 2024 after two years of marriage.

The 52-year-old actor also reportedly grabbed Garner by her waist as she focused on her target during the game.

The bond between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

Speaking of the friendship between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, the duo have maintained a close bond since the 1980s, when they were just kids. A report in Business Insider indicated that they stayed away two blocks from each other in Cambridge, Massachusetts and attended the same high school.

"Before Matt, I was by myself. Acting was a solo activity where I'd just go off and do something, act in a little TV show or something, and no one understood it.”

Affleck told Parade.

"None of the other kids knew what it was I did, how it worked, or anything. All of a sudden, I had this friend, Matt, and he gets it and wants to do it and thinks it's interesting and wants to talk about it. Soon both of us are doing it."
