A source close to the New York Post has claimed that Sean "Diddy" Combs was unaware that his prison call with Kanye West was being recorded.

“Puff didn’t know it was being recorded [on video],” the source said. He added that the Bad Boy Records founder “thought he was having a friend call him to check on his kids.” They further confirmed to The Post that the call was “real and not AI.”

In the viral clip, shared by The Shade Room on March 17, 2025, the 55-year-old rapper warned Ye about people trying to “end” them.

“You be careful out there ’cause they definitely trying to end us,” He said. “They can’t do it and they ain’t gonna do it. I’m going to beat this s–t and get next to you,” he added.

During the call, Combs encouraged Ye to “have some f–king fun” and to “get behind the mike.” He told him, “When I get out there, man, I want to see you f–king tear down the stadiums.” He also thanked him for taking care of his kids.

The source added that Combs feels like,

“a collateral damage in the debacle over Ye’s new song — the beef is really with Kim.” They explained that it is “a matter of older influential Black men knowing these guys are kind of flying blindly.”

Why are Kanye West and Kim Kardashian beefing over their daughter, North West?

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's ongoing conflict has escalated significantly due to Kanye's recent release of a song featuring their daughter, North West.

Ye’s latest song, Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine features their elder daughter along with Sean "Diddy" Combs’ son Christian “King” Combs, and Jasmine Williams.

Kardashian had previously sought legal action to prevent the song's release, fearing North West’s name could become entangled in the controversies surrounding Combs. However, the Yeezy founder dropped the song, despite his former wife’s objections.

According to a report in Rolling Stones, Ye shared screenshots of text messages claiming were between him and Kardashian. According to the messages, she sent paperwork “so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her.” She told him that she has the right to trademark her name and when North turns 18 the rights will be transferred to her, to which they both agreed.

West expressed his frustration on seeing Kim’s attempts to control their children’s involvement in the music industry and threatened to go, “to war” over the matter.

Now, Kardashian is reportedly considering legal changes to their custody agreement and thinking of stripping West of his joint custody rights for their children, according to TMZ.
