Jessica Simpson opens up about her feelings following her separation from Eric Johnson

Jessica Simpson opened up about her emotional return to music during her surprise performance at the Luck Reunion festival on March 13, 2025, held at Willie Nelson's ranch in Texas.

The 44-year-old shared her feelings with the crowd during her performance, as per a report in People magazine. She said:

“I was out in Nashville and I had my heart wide open, I was in a very intuitive state and I had to ask some very personal questions on the home front. And I found out that my world had been turned upside down and that life was now very different.”

She then added,

"I am a very single lady."

Simpson reflected on the connection between music and her emotions. She spoke about the vulnerability one faces after a heartbreak. She said,

"You know, when we open our hearts, sometimes we're vulnerable, and it just gets broken. And maybe sometimes we forget that we've been broken for a really long time, but when we meet ourselves — when we write, when we sing, when we connect with ourselves — we find all the answers.”

In another report by Entertainment Weekly, Simpson performed for the first time in 15 years at the Recording Academy's Austin Chapter Block Party at SXSW in Austin, Texas. She opened up about her decision to return to music. She shared the news on her Instagram, along with a caption and a few snippets of her gig. She wrote:

“Last night was my first performance in 15 years. It was an emotional coming back home to the best part of myself. Thank you for embracing me. You know that I have so much to say, but this lucky voice gets to soar again tonight. I love y’all. More to come.”

She sang Breadcrumbs, Leave, Blame Me, and Use My Heart Against Me, all from her new EP Nashville Canyon Pt. 1.

Simpson's recent performances and her outing with her children reflect her efforts to balance her music career with co-parenting responsibilities amid personal challenges.
