In a shocking update on the Shannon Sharpe controversy, Lord Jamar alleged in his Art Of Dialogue podcast that he heard from the grapevine that videos were showing Sharpe assaulting a female. The American rapper, DJ, and podcast host also claimed that he had listened to an audio recording making the rounds of the legendary NFL player and ESPN host, seemingly admitting to choking a female:

“The boy Shay Shay. There’s a recording where she’s saying something about “I guess we have to go out cos I don’t want to get choked or those type of sh**. And he’s admitting to choking her,”

Lord Jamar later claimed that a friend of his who was privy to a video texted him:

“Then I’m hearing there’s a tape out there now. I haven’t seen this tape, but someone I know says they have seen this tape. They said and in this tape apparently he is ch*king this girl and railing her from the back."

According to Lord Jamar, his source claimed that in the alleged tape, Sharpe was choking a female whilst having se**al intercourse with her before adding:

“My man just texted me this morning saying Shannon Sharpe’s going to jail. I just saw the video.”

Lord Jamar’s claims come after Shannon Sharpe was hit with allegations of rape and physical assault by an ex-girlfriend on April 20, 2025.

Everything we know about the Shannon Sharpe allegations as Lord Jamar joins the conversation

According to BBC News, on April 20, 2025, a woman filed a $50 million lawsuit accusing Sharpe of raping her during their nearly two-year relationship. The plaintiff alleged that Sharpe, a celebrated NFL Hall of Famer, had used his fame to “manipulate, control, subjugate and violate women.”

The plaintiff further alleged that she was 19 when she met Sharpe in 2023 in a gym and endured a relationship where the latter was aggressive. The suit seeks more than $50 million in compensation and damages.

An excerpt of the complaint reads:

"After many months of manipulating and controlling Plaintiff — a woman more than thirty years younger than he — and repeatedly threatening to brutally choke and violently slap her, Sharpe refused to accept the answer no and raped Plaintiff, despite her sobbing and repeated screams of 'no,"

Sharpe has denied the allegations, saying he is the target of a “shakedown.”

In a statement published on April 24, 2025, Shannon Sharpe revealed that he was stepping away from his role as an ESPN host following the accusations against him.

Front Office Sports also reported on April 24, 2025, that Sharpe was accused of choking a production assistant during his stint at Fox Sports, which ran from 2016 to 2023. The alleged date of the physical assault wasn’t revealed.

The news outlet further reported that Sharpe settled with the female accuser for several hundred thousand dollars.

Sharpe’s representative has vehemently denied any incident involving choking. They added that “On one occasion, he and a few colleagues were involved in some light physical interaction in a playful context. Fox Sports later chose to resolve the matter privately.”

Shannon Sharpe has revealed plans to sue his accuser and lawyer, Tony Buzbee, for defamation.
