A woman accusing rapper Soulja Boy of s*xual assault and physical abuse broke down in court as she recounted her alleged ordeal, Rolling Stone reports.
The woman is testifying under the alias Jane Doe. The 36-year-old woman detailed months of abuse while working as the rapper's personal assistant in 2019.
Per Rolling Stone, describing how she was allegedly physically assaulted and r*ped by the rapper, the woman stated:
"I feared for my life. I was scared of what he would do to my family. I did not want him to hurt anybody because of me. I did not even feel human anymore. I felt like an animal."
The civil trial is taking place in Santa Monica, California. It has put the rapper under scrutiny as disturbing allegations come to light. Soulja Boy's real name is DeAndre Cortez Way. He is known for his 2007 viral hit 'Crank That (Soulja Boy).'
The rapper has denied all wrongdoing. His legal team reportedly argues that the accusations are inconsistent and that the alleged victim was never officially employed by the rapper. However, this lawsuit is not the first time Soulja Boy has faced allegations of domestic violence and abuse.
The reported testimony of Soulja Boy accuser
On the fourth day of the trial, Jane Doe took the stand to recount the alleged abuse she suffered, Rolling Stone reports. She described how she was initially hired as Soulja Boy's assistant and was promised a salary of $500 per week. She was also allegedly given a room in his Malibu rental home.
She also alleged that the rapper would frequently pull a gun on her and once told her that he knew where her mother lived, threatening to "send shooters" to her house. Rolling Stone reports that the accuser stated in the trial:
"He would call me an ugly, bumpy-faced bitch. He would tell me I was fat. He would make fun of me and have his friends make fun of me. He would spit on the floor and say, ‘Bitch, hurry up, come clean this shit up,’ while his friends watched. I wanted to die. I didn’t want to be there anymore. I just wanted to go home."
Shedding some light on the matter, a D.A. spokesperson told the news outlet:
"In April 2021, after a thorough review of the investigation conducted by Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges due to insufficient evidence to prove the alleged crimes true beyond a reasonable doubt."
Jane Doe reportedly testified that the first alleged s*xual assault took place in February 2019, during a police raid on Soulja Boy's home. According to her, while law enforcement officers were outside, he forced himself on her.
On the other hand, his attorney, Rickey Ivie, reportedly argued in court that the woman's story had changed multiple times. Per Rolling Stone, Rickey mentioned to the outlet,
"The testimony was really a tale of two stories, because the story that she just gave today is not the story she gave in her deposition. It’s not the story that she gave to the police when she made her complaint, after she retained a lawyer."
The attorney added,
"The story that she told today is not what’s reflected in the text messages that transpired between the parties for the eight months they were together. She has been inconsistent, grossly inconsistent, wildly inconsistent. Those allegations that she made just aren’t true. They’re not going to be substantiated by the time this trial is over."
However, no criminal charges have been filed in Jane Doe's case due to reported insufficient evidence. This civil trial could result in financial penalties for Soulja Boy if the jury decides in favor of the plaintiff.
