Diddy who has been charged with s*x trafficking, transportation for prostitution, and racketeering conspiracies has a strong team of high-profile attorneys to defend him against the federal charges.
From Anthony Ricco stepping out of the team in February 2025, and then Diddy looking for a female black attorney to recently adding the Georgia-based attorney, Brian Steel to his defense team, he has had six attorneys represent his case.
Diddy was charged with r*ape and abuse by his ex-girlfriend in November 2023 and since then there have been more than a hundred lawsuits filed against him.
All about the attorneys on Diddy's trial team
Among the attorneys representing Diddy's case is Mark Geragos, A prolific attorney, Geragos is on the team as a legal advisor. He is also known for working with celebrities such as Michael Jackson, the Menendez brothers, and Chris Brown.
Marc's daughter Teny Geragos is also on the team. She had taken the case to TikTok and TV and had made clips explaining his innocence. In a show Cuomo that airs on News Nation, Teny said this about Diddy to the host:
“He’s fighting. He’s innocent, and he’s going to be able to show it.”
Marc Agnifilo is a seasoned criminal defense lawyer on the team. He is leading the case and defending Diddy against federal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering.
Anthony Ricco was also one of the lawyers representing Diddy. Anthony specializes in state and federal court hearings and has worked for Osama bin Laden. He had defended Osama in the World Trade Center bombing conspiracy cases.
However, in February 2025, Ricco made the decision to leave the team. As per People, Anthony did not give any reason for stepping down in the request he submitted. In his filing, he wrote:
''Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.''
Alexandra Shapiro is another attorney on Diddy's legal team. She also works for the entrepreneur, Sam Bankman-Fried. She began her career by working for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, then in 2009 started her own law firm and is also known as one of the top lawyers for appeals.
Lately, the legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff shared on her social media that Brian Steel had filed a motion requesting to join Diddy's legal team. He has requested to practice in the Southern District of New York. He is also popularly known for defending rapper Young Thug in a major gang-related (RICO) case.
According to TMZ, Diddy was also looking for a black female attorney to join his team, however, Brian Steel has joined the team instead. The jury selection will begin on May 5, 2025, and the opening statement a week later. However, his lawyers have requested that the trial date be delayed by two weeks.
