Actor Tyler James Williams had a seemingly stellar dating history. According to US Weekly, he dated singer Karina Pashion till 2015. He then dated Russian actress Anastasia Baranova but they are no longer together. At present, he isn't involved with anyone but knows what to look for in a partner.
People magazine shared a video on its Instagram page on March 9, 2025, in which Williams weighed in on his thoughts about his potential partner. He said:
“I grew up in Hollywood so like the how you look doesn’t really matter as much. We out here, everybody is pretty. It’s not like everybody’s pretty. It is that it’s not a flex. But it’s somebody who I can look at them and the decisions that they have made and the life that they have built for themselves.”
Tyler James Williams, now in his 30s, said he must admire the person’s works. Moreover, he believes that everyone should feel proud of their partner and take pride in being with them.
However, this wasn’t the first time he had opened up about his dating life. In 2022, when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel asked about his Valentine’s Day plans. He replied that he was in the show and Kimmel joked about Tyler James Williams not bringing him flowers. The actor said:
“Dating for me has always been weird.”
Kimmel then asked if he ever cried on a date and Williams responded with a strict no. He reasoned saying:
“My entire dating history since 13 on has been with people knowing me and my work, very intimate. Most people wait until they meet their parents to see like baby pictures, all of mine is up there. It’s out like they have seen all of my awkward phases every time my voice cracked.”
Tyler James Williams said “ego” was the major turn-off in dating
Tyler James Williams appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show in 2023. He acknowledged that musical talent runs in his family, with his brothers still active in music. While he can carry a tune, he feels his singing abilities don't compare to theirs.
During the Q&A session, he was asked about his biggest “turn-off” in dating and Williams’s immediate response was ego. He said:
“I need to be able to go vulnerable and deep with somebody and ego stops that.”
When asked about the most rebellious thing he did as a kid, Tyler James Williams recalled spending much of his childhood on sets. While filming Everybody Hates Chris, at Paramount Studios, he and his fellow young cast members would cause mischief by messing with other sets.
One of their favorite pranks was shaking soda cans, popping them open, and sprinting off. Looking back, he admits it wasn’t the best behavior and apologized to the set decorators, noting he was only 12 or 13 at the time.
In a 2024 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Tyler James Williams shared that he grew up in New York but first moved to Los Angeles as a child to film Everybody Hates Chris, a show set in New York.
