Azealia Banks has once again taken aim at J.K. Rowling. The rapper criticizes the Harry Potter author's stance on transgender rights in a series of social media posts.

Azealia accused J.K. Rowling of being obsessed with trans issues and questioned the motives behind her views. The rapper's remarks caused mixed reactions from enthusiasts and netizens.

An X (formerly Twitter) user, Imtiaz Madmood, posted a picture of the author and wrote:

"At age 17, she was rejected from college. At age 25, her mother died from the disease. At age 26, she moved to Portugal to teach English. At age 27, she got married. Her husband abused her. Her daughter was born. At age 28, she got divorced and was diagnosed with severe depression. At age 29, she was a single mother living on welfare. At age 30, she didn't want to be on this earth. But she directed all her passion into doing the one thing she could do better than anyone else. And that was writing."

He ended, saying,

"At age 42, she sold 11 million copies of her new book on the first release day. This woman is J.K. Rowling. Remember how she considered suicide at age 30? Harry Potter is a global brand worth more than 15 billion dollars. Never give up. Believe in yourself. Be passionate. Work hard. It’s never too late. She is J.K. Rowling."

Azealia Banks shared Imtiaz's X post, captioning,

"Maybe her husband cheated on her with a Tr***ylicious diva and that’s why she’s dedicated every waking moment to making sure her life’s legacy is dedicated to harassing people who make up less than 1% of the Global population."

J.K. Rowling responded to Banks' comments on her with a brief remark:

"It's a matter of public record that my first husband beat me up, but you got the likes, Azealia, and I hope they were worth it."

More on Azealia Banks and J.K. Rowling

This latest clash between the two celebrities is not the first time J.K. Rowling's comments on gender identity have come under fire. The author has been vocal about her views on biological sex and women's rights. It notably led to accusations of transphobia by enthusiasts and netizens.

On the other hand, Azealia Banks is known for her often controversial statements. She has faced backlash for her past comments about the trans community but has recently taken a more supportive stance, reports suggest.

Azealia continued to make a series of X posts after calling out Rowling. Her posts read:

"Highkey all this anti-trans stuff is really just giving the weird people who solicit transwomen for s*x and m*rder them more fuel to become m*rderous psychopaths. Because if u think a chaser psycho only limits his victims to transwomen and won't also murder females ur f*cking retarded."

She also added,

"Nothing in any legislature lists identifying as male or female a crime but m*rder is listed as a serious crime everywhere in the world. If the overarching point of this anti-trans stuff is morality then a humans right to breathe and not be brutally murdered for reasons ill leave to actual psychologists and psychiatrists is tantamount to whatever f*cking bulls*it about sports and the bathroom."

This exchange between Azealia Banks and J.K. Rowling on social media might be another episode in the culture wars over gender identity. However, it potentially highlights the real-world stakes of these debates.
