Fans of the popular game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) have been anticipating the release of the sixth series. Since Rockstar shared the first look of the game via a 99-second trailer that showcased Lucia, Jason, and a new modern version of Vice City, fans have been waiting for more updates about the highly anticipated iteration.
However, to their disappointment, no news about the sixth edition of GTA has been released since the trailer dropped at the end of 2023. More than 500 days have passed, and fans are still hopeful for any news regarding the new instalment of the game.
While several other netizens have speculated about when GTA enthusiasts will receive a second trailer, Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar developer who contributed to previous Grand Theft Auto games such as GTA 3, GTA IV, Vice City, and San Andreas, has expressed his belief that GTA 6 does not need a second trailer. His posts on X, formerly Twitter, read:
“Also, If it was my call, I wouldn’t release any additional trailers. There is more than enough hype around VI, and the element of surprise is going to make the release only bigger as an event.”
Fans react to Obbe Vermeij's statement concerning GTA 6’s second trailer
@dexerto on X shared the former Rockstar developer's opinion with the caption:
“An ex-Rockstar dev believes GTA 6 doesn't need a new trailer despite the ongoing silence. He says there's "more than enough hype around VI."
The post quickly garnered numerous reactions as several netizens took to the comments section to express their opinions.
“There is anyone who's complaining about how much it is apparently gonna cost are still gonna buy it let's be real. Rockstar doesn't need something to hype up GTA we've been waiting for 10+ years,” @HezWrldd commented.
“Thing is they are not wrong. The entire fan base has done all their advertising for them. They could genuinely just release the game now and it still make more than gta 5,” @FragstarGames replied.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they was watching that oblivion remaster seeing if they was gonna actually shadow drop that game and then saw that it actually did sell crazy without any marketing. If they did take any notes I don’t think we are gonna see any more trailers or nothin till the day it comes out,” @sameoldeli added.
More fans agreed with Vermeij's statement.

“He's absolutely right. This is going to be the biggest game is history and other game devs are going to feel it immediately,” @VirtualRecalll stated.
“He's not wrong. That one trailer broke the internet, they could drop the game tomorrow with zero promo and it still sell out,” @arslan_baloch replied.
“His not wrong, it'll likely be the only game people would pay 120 bucks for and not bat a eye. Any other company even wanting to come to 80-90 will likely go out of business in the future where people can only get maybe 1-2 games a year,” @ThoughtHard1 added.
