Elon Musk has issued a statement saying he will double the production of Tesla in two years. The billionaire uploaded an X post on March 12, 2025, saying:
"In support of the policies of President @realDonaldTrump and to demonstrate our confidence in the future of the United States, @Tesla commits to doubling vehicle production in the US within 2 years!"
The statement came after President Donald Trump declared violence against Tesla as domestic terrorism. According to a Reuters report, the US President in Tuesday stated that people engaged in violence against dealerships of the electric vehicle company would:
"go through hell."
Why are citizens protesting against Tesla?
The attacks are being seen as a reaction to Musk's efforts at drastic changes eversince he was given charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) of the Donald Trump administration. Among changes that Musk ushered was the downsizing of the government workforce, which has led to widespread protests.
Tesla was a target, being Elon Musk's company. While there have been peaceful protestors, many people attacked Tesla showrooms and cars. Many cars were spray-painted and damaged during the protests.
Following the protests, Trump released a statement saying any attacks or violence against Tesla would be considered domestic terrorism. The statement aimed at stopping the protests and damage being done to Tesla showrooms and cars.
As part of his support for Elon Musk, Trump added a post on Truth Social by saying:
"To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is “putting it on the line” in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s “baby,” in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for."
He further added,
"In any event, I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American. Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???"
Donald Trump also bought a red Tesla car for the White House, and wrote on his Truth Social account:
"Number one, it's a great product—as good as it gets—and number two, because Elon has devoted his energy and his life to doing this and I think he has been treated very unfairly…"

As per Elon Musk's latest statement on X, he plans to double Tesla production by 2027.
