Azealia Banks says Katy Perry's spaceflight with Gayle King seems staged

Katy Perry, along with Gayle King, went to space on Monday via Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket. They returned safely to the Earth, and then each crew member was interviewed.

During the interview, Gayle expressed her thoughts on the space mission. She mentioned how Katy's singing was the best part of their short outer space mission. She said:

''The best part was when we got back in our seats after zero Gs, Katy sang ‘What a Wonderful World.'''

The 212 singer, Azealia Amanda Banks, known for her controversial statements and feuds, shared her thoughts on the clip. She said:

''I don't think they even went to space that shit was fake af. How are they back already its been like 40 mins.''

This claim of Azealia has sparked debates online, where some netizens agree with her while some are explaining how the outer space mission works.

The space mission that took place yesterday is called NS-31, and as per ABC News, this mission with an all-female spaceflight crew was the first of its kind since 1963.

Other than Katy and Gayle, the crew consisted of Lauren Sánchez, a pilot, author, and journalist; Aisha Bowe, the aerospace engineer; Amanda Nguyen, a civil rights activist; and the film producer Kerianne Flynn, who worked on the 2024 film Lily.

Katy chose to sing the 1967 song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, and when she was asked why she chose that song, she told Fox News:

''“It’s not about singing my songs, it’s about collective energy in there, it’s about us, it’s about making space for future women and taking up space and belonging, and it’s about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating. This is all for the benefit of Earth.”

Katy's The Lifetimes Tour is all set to begin in April 2025 in Mexico City, Mexico, and will conclude in December 2025 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
