On April 7, Kanye West wrote a tweet on X stating the reasons behind why he was never allowed to perform at the Super Bowl. In the tweet, the rapper wrote,
"I never was allowed to do the Super Bowl because of 3 moments"
The moments as shared by him were:
George Bush don’t care about black people
The Taylor Swift movement moment
Wearing a MAGA hat"
The tweet further continued,
"How it feel to be the best living and blocked from the main stage because of being ahead of my time (And I mean all of this before I went full Nazi of course)"
To date, Ye has not performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. However, the rapper has taken the stage at other big events, like the pre-Super Bowl concert with Rihanna in 2015. He’s also performed at major award shows, including the Grammys. Despite his fame, the Super Bowl has not given him a chance so far.
Kanye West's George Bush and Taylor Swift moments explained

Kanye West attended a live TV telethon in 2005, which aimed to raise funds for the victims who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. During the live stream, while talking about the effects of the hurricane, Kanye said,
"America is set up to help the poor, the Black people, the less well-off as slow as possible. I mean, this is the Red Cross that's doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of the people that could help are at war right now fighting another way."
Kanye further went off script and said,
"George Bush doesn't care about Black people."
This left Mike Myers, the co-star of the show, stunned. Later, George Bush also replied to Kanye's statement in an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer by stating:
"That's racist. And I didn't appreciate it then, and I don't appreciate it now. So one thing to say you know I don't appreciate the way he handle his business."
He further added,
"I resent it. That's not true, and it's one of the most disgusting moments of my presence."

In 2009, at the MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift won the Best Female Video award. During her acceptance speech, Kanye cut the singer off in the middle by saying,
"Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you. I'm going to let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time."
This left the audience and Taylor Swift stunned. The clip later went viral, with Ye receiving backlash for being rude to the singer. Kanye has been vocal about his 2018 MAGA hat moment, wearing it to support Trump, which, according to the singer, became one of the reasons for not being allowed at the Super Bowl.
For the 2015 performance, Ye's fans started using the hashtag #KanyeWestForSuperBowl51. However, the NFL decided to go with Lady Gaga instead.
The NFL has never officially stated why Kanye West wasn’t chosen. Fans think it’s because of his controversies.
