Check out the trailer for Girls5eva, the "brave" new comedy about a '90s girl group that stars Hamilton and One Life to Live alum Renée Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline Williamson).

Once you pop, you can't stop! Get ready for the debut of Girls5eva, a super fun comedy series that follows a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90s that gets sampled by a young rapper, inspiring the members to reunite and give their pop star dreams one more shot.

NBCUniversal just released the teaser trailer (below) and announced that the series -- created by Meredith Scardino and executive produced by Tina Fey -- is set to premiere on Peacock on Thursday, May 6.

As Soap Central previously reported, Girls5eva stars One Life to Live alum Renée Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline Williamson) as Wickie, the big-voiced lead vocalist of the group, who is disappointed that her solo career has hit a ditch and is determined to use this new opportunity to retake her rightful place as pop royalty.

The series will also star "Love Song" singer Sara Bareilles as Dawn, a former member of Girls5eva who is now a bit restless in life, managing her family's small Italian restaurant in Queens; Paula Pell as Gloria, who became a dentist and came out of the closet since the girl group disbanded and, now living with her father, yearns for more in life than looking in people's mouths and giving her dad heart pills; Busy Philipps as Summer, the most bubbly -- but least talented -- member of the group who is now a Real Housewives reject in yoga pants living in a New Jersey McMansion; and Ashley Park as Ashley, the glue that held the group together back in the late '90s despite her previous experience of being in seven failed girl groups before joining Girls5eva.

All eight episodes of the freshman season of Girls5eva are set to drop on Thursday, May 6, on Peacock. Check out the teaser trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the Comments section at the end of the article.

Goldsberry got her start in shows like Ally and Ally McBeal before landing the role of OLTL's Evangeline, which she played from 1999 to 2007. The actress hit the big time when she originated the role of Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway musical Hamilton, for which she won a Tony Award in 2016. Some of her other credits include the TV series The Good Wife, Evil, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, The Following, Fast and Furious Spy Racers, Documentary Now!, and Altered Carbon.
