Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their latest album back in 2022

Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their latest album, Cool It Down, in 2022. The album is their studio album as well as their first album since 2013. The band talked about the album in an exclusive interview with Crack Magazine, stating:

"Karen O: I’m going for stuff that people are skirting around. I need art to reflect all the big and scary feelings. And not just scary – also euphoric."

Brian Chase added:

"We’re surrounded by disappointment in the system. That can easily lead to despondency. But the point of living is to find the steps through that, and feel community with people you trust."

Karen O later added:

"We’re in this pivotal moment of whether humanity is gonna survive. That’s where I am in the back of my head. I’m gonna dive there. I’m gonna do it with music. It’s fu*king magic, man. It’s our medicine. If I can offer that healing to anybody else, then yes, I’m going to do that."

Karen O also talked about why the band went on a hiatus between 2013 and 2022, highlighting the creative differences that had developed between her and the rest of the band:

"A lot of it was growing pains. I was absolutely rejecting the notion of continuing with our [Fever to Tell] sound, and that was very unpopular, especially with Nick. I’ve pushed everybody outside of our comfort zone record after record, and it’s not easy. Show Your Bones was the initial push, and there was a backlash [within the band]. I struggled because I wasn’t understanding why."

Karen O went on to brief how the pandemic created an opportunity for the band to reunite after their disbanding in 2014, with demo recording starting in 2021 and the album arriving in 2022.
