āSo itās my take, my position, my statement on it is that heās gone from being unable to do the shows to clearly being unwilling to do shows with us."

Drummer Mike Bordin claims Mike Patton doesn't have plans to return to Faith No More

In his interview podcast on the Let There Be Talk Podcast on April 15, 2025, Mike Bordin opened up about his life and experiences with Faith No More. The band had previously issued a statement in 2021 that they had to necessitate the tour's cancellation since a "family member needs help." They added:
"We believe that forging ahead with these dates would have had a profoundly destructive effect on Mike, whose value to us as a brother means more to us than his job as singer."
Mike Bordin reflected on this experience and reiterated on the podcast that they were clear about supporting Mike Patton's mental health. He said:
"None of us wants to be the guy that breaks his back and forces him to do something that heās not in the position to be able to do. It wasnāt even an argument. The only argument was, āHow the fāk did we logistically do this?"
Faith No More's Bordin also expressed sadness about Mike Patton's return to the stage, but without a conversation with his former bandmates. Bordin described Patton's choice as "heavy" for him and added:
"We havenāt really had much dialogue on it. ā¦ It doesnāt feel great to me. It honestly kind of hurts my feelings a little bit, but thatās personal. Thatās a private thing. Itās business."
Bordin added that they never wanted to "force" anyone to do "something they were unable to do." He added:
āAnd now, as I say, it looks like itās more really about being willing to do it.ā
In a January interview with Chile's Radio Futuro, founding member of Faith No More, Billy Gould, spoke about the unclear status of their band. He noted:
"Right now weāre in a really weird spot, a really strange spot, and I canāt really tell you whatās going on. I donāt know myself. I get different information from people, and Iām in the band.ā
In a 2022 interview with The Guardian, Mike Patton opened up about his "mental health" and revealed his experience during the pandemic.
"Because I was isolated so much, going outside was a hard thing to do. That's a horrible thing. And the idea of doing more Faith No More shows ā it was stressful. It affected me mentally."
Faith No More's Mike Bordin recently opened up about Mike Patton's decision not to perform with the group. Bordin claimed that Patton and they have not had much "dialogue" about his decision. He added that it appears that there has been a shift from Patton being "unable" to do the shows to an unwillingness to do shows with Faith No More.
