Mötley Crüe has canceled its performance at the Boardwalk Rock Festival as their frontman, Vince Neil, has been recovering from a medical procedure.

"Mötley Crüe will be unable to perform at Boardwalk Rock in Ocean City, MD, on May 17 as Vince Neil is recuperating after a required medical procedure recently advised by his doctors. Vince's health comes first, and we fully support him in prioritizing his recovery. Please join us in wishing him well.”

The band wrote in a statement on April 3, 2025, according to Billboard.

"We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the show and appreciate your understanding. Our friends Alice In Chains are confirmed to take our place on May 17 and we are immensely grateful to them for stepping up and bringing their awesome show to Boardwalk Rock.” Their statement added.
"Thank you to all the Crüeheads for your continued support. We can't wait for Vince to fully recuperate and to be back on stage again soon."

The band concluded the message. It was scheduled to co-headline the two-day festival along with Def Leppard on the opening night, while closing with Nickelback and Shinedown, according to a report in Billboard.

This is not the first time the band shared the news; earlier in March, the band informed fans about Vince’s health and that he would be undergoing a medical procedure, which required them to re-schedule their Las Vegas Residency to September. Here is what they said.

Why was Mötley Crüe’s Las Vegas Residency rescheduled?

On March 5, 2025, Mötley Crüe gave an update about the health of Vince Neil, who is one of the band’s members.

“Mötley Crüe’s Las Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, originally scheduled for March 28th- April 19th, 2025, is moving to September 2025 due to a required medical procedure recently advised by vocalist Vince Neil’s doctors.”

Neil himself added a message for his fans, in which he made an apology for his absence at the event due to his health requirements. He added:

“To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring, I’m truly sorry. My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can’t wait to return to the stage. Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.”

Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and John 5 of Mötley Crüe shared in a joint statement: “Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery. We are looking forward to him getting well again and to taking over Vegas together in September. We can’t wait to see you all out there, and thank you for your understanding and support in the meantime”.

Mötley Crüe became one of the famous rock bands of the 80s since its inception in 1981, according to a report in People magazine. The band consists of four members, including singer Vince Neil, drummer Tommy Lee, bassist Nikki Sixx, and guitarist Mick Mars (who was later replaced by John 5). The band sold over 100 million albums across four decades, garnered seven platinum certifications, and received three Grammy nominations, the report added.
