Houston rapper Sauce Walka and his artist Sayso P were shot in a targeted incident on March 22, 2025.
According to a report in People magazine, the officers were alerted about the shooting at 2:42 pm local time, near the 100 block of George W. Lee Ave, informed the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
"This appears to be a targeted shooting incident. The victims were outside by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle pulled up. Multiple people got out of that vehicle, fired shots without engaging in any conversation, they got back into the white vehicle and fled." The police said, according to the outlet.
Albert Walker Mondane, professionally known as Sauce Walka, injured his leg while his friend, Latorian Hunt who goes by the stage name, Sayso P. died at the spot. The duo were outside a hotel near Memphis’ FedExForum when a car pulled up and began firing at them. Walka is reportedly in a non-critical condition and is recovering from his injuries.
What do we know of Sayso P?
According to Fox 13, Sayso P was originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, US. He was an emerging rapper and artist who recently signed with Walka’s record label, The Sauce Factory. The report further stated that although he didn’t live in Memphis but occasionally visited his hometown and visited some local clubs. Here is what else we know about the shooting.
While Sayso P have just been rising in his career, he has collaborated with Sauce Walka over song Furreal. He had also released multiple singles throughout his career on YouTube channel. The most popular video on YouTube was Hefner with 28k views, and other songs include Game Related, WTF, Reason Why, Free Once Punch, Making Stars, What's Real, MmHmm, and more.

Did the police nab the suspects of Sayso P and Sauce Walka's shooting?
A report in People magazine indicated that the police are trying hard to arrest the suspects reportedly on the run. As per the statement given by the Memphis Police Department (MPD), they said that they are "actively working to make an arrest."
"We want to assure our community and visitors that downtown Memphis is a safe place. This incident was not a random act of violence," the MPD added. The police indicated that early indications suggest a connection between the victims and the suspects, which reinforces the notion that the incident was not a random act of violence.

“Early indications are that the victims and suspects are known to each other. We understand the public’s concern and reiterate that this was not a random act,” the MPD noted.
“MPD is committed to bringing those responsible to justice and will be utilizing downtown camera footage and other technology available to aid in identifying everyone involved.”
Sharing his thoughts upon the shooting incident, Sauce Walka’s father, Albert Walker previously said in a statement to Houston CBS affiliate KHOU that his son is expected to survive.
"Had it not been for God, my son would've been dead," Walker said, who is a professional wrestler. Sauce began his career in 2007. He is known for collaborating with artists like Bun B, Lil’ Keke, Slim Thug and Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky and Migos, as reported by Billboard.
This was not the first time he became part of a shooting incident. But the reports suggest that in 2009, he was involved in another gun-related incident during a Trae the Truth concert. In 2018, police said he participated in criminal gang activity, according to Billboard.
