Who is Jazmine Sullivan? Singer reveals disheartening miscarriage news in a birthday post

Jazmine Sullivan had devastating news to share with her fans via her Instagram stories on April 10, 2025. Sullivan is a two-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter. The R&B singer boasts platinum-certified hits like Pick Up Your Feelings and Girl Like Me.

Sullivan shared with her fans and followers that on the day after her 38th birthday, she had suffered a miscarriage. Jazmine Sullivan post read:

"Whew.. thank yall for ur birthday wishes. Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I've been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say.”

She added:

“I woulda have been holding my 2-month-old son that I never got to meet," she wrote. “So needless to say, I've been down bad."

The Girl Like Me hitmaker added that she was grateful for the goodwill messages she received on April 9, 2025, her birthday. She stated that it “helped to release some of the deep pain I've been holding in for a while.”

She continued in her Instagram Stories:

“I'm also grateful that so many of you think of me and take the time to write! It's all so beautiful!! Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life's a** whooping.”

Jazmine Sullivan has also spoken about losing her mother and opened up about grieving

Jazmine Sullivan’s mother, Pamela, passed away on July 22, 2023, after battling cancer for nearly four years. The celebrated R&B singer revealed that her mother’s cancer diagnosis had brought them together.

She told Janine Rubenstein of PEOPLE Every Day how she appreciated her mum more after realizing she could lose her:

"Obviously, you appreciate people more if you even think that you could lose them, but I've been able to reciprocate the love and support that she's given me all my life back to her. And I'm so fulfilled doing that."

Jazmine Sullivan added that because of the cancer diagnosis, she was more enthusiastic than usual to hear her mom’s advice about life:

"[There's] a difference than before the diagnosis, where maybe I might be a little irritated to hear mom's advice, but now I want to hear it," Sullivan adds. "I want to be with her as much as possible. I'm setting up a room in my house for her to come and stay over, making sure she's comfortable."

The singer, after her 37th birthday in 2024, revealed that she was grieving the loss of her mother. She stated:

“I tried so hard to keep busy for my birthday to distract myself, but I don’t think it works like that. I cried all month. I’ll cry for the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that."
