Playboi Carti has teased an upcoming project with long-time collaborator DJ Swamp Izzo. The South Carolina-based Disc Jockey is one of the most influential in the business and has collaborations with hip-hop stars like Drake, Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Nicki Minaj.

DJ Swamp Izzo also boasts recognition from MTV and had a spinning gig for President Barack Obama. DJ Swamp Izzo has worked with Playboi Carti on several of the rapper’s tracks. For the latter’s I AM MUSIC album, DJ Swamp worked on tracks MOJO MOJO, BACKDOOR, and GOOD CREDIT.

I AM MUSIC was released on March 14, 2025, after weeks of teasing sneak peeks for excited fans. The rapper previously shared a screenshot of a text from producer Wheezy, with the latter promising to sample Jay-Z’s Girls, Girls, Girls.

Fans speculated that the album’s release date was close. On March 10, 2025, Carti announced that his album was done. In February 2025, a billboard sporting graphics of the I AM MUSIC album was spotted in mid-February.

Carti also performed a few tracks from the album during his Rolling Loud performance in Miami in December 2024. During his set at the event, he performed a track by producer F1LTHY, and he followed after with a sound from Metro Boomin. The final track was his Rather Lie collab with The Weeknd.

I AM MUSIC boasts guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Jhené Aiko, Future, Skepta, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla Sign, and Young Thug. The album garnered positive reviews with a 77/100 rating on Metacritic and four stars out of 5 from Rolling Stone.

The rap album has opened the Billboard 200 chart for this week (March 23 to 29, 2025) at the number 1 spot. I AM MUSIC also holds the spot for the biggest week for a rap album in 2025 and second place overall behind The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow. Carti’s album also topped the UK and New Zealand Albums Chart.
