BRIT Awards 2025 awarded A.G. Cook with the Producer of the Year accolade for his remarkable production credentials in music up to this point. PC Music founder, Cook, has been a pathfinder in breaking the mold in the development of the hyperpop genre and imprinting his seal on underground and mainstream music.

Cook's crossover sound brings the production qualities of electronic, pop, and experimental music into a unique blend that is well-received by critics. His work with Charli XCX, Beyoncé, and Christine and the Queens has also established him as a producer who can play multiple styles simultaneously and blur boundaries.

Early Life and Career A.G. Cook

Born on the 23rd of August, 1990, in London, England, Cook became interested in music at an early age.

He explored this interest further in his course of study at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he studied music and the arts.

PC Music was established by Cook in 2013 in the form of a record label with an exaggerated approach to the stereotypes of pop music. The label quickly gained attention as remarkable for its experimental sound, characterized by high-pitched singing, computer-synthesized textures, and a hyper-satirical but affectionate deconstruction of pop culture. This created the foundation upon which the now-identified genre of hyperpop would be defined.

Key Collaborations and Key Pieces of A.G. Cook

Charli XCX and Hyperpop Impact

His work with Charli XCX has been especially significant. As executive producer, he collaborated on her mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 (both 2017) and the albums Charli (2019) and How I'm Feeling Now (2020). They are also famous for their experimental style and have brought hyperpop influences to a larger audience.

In 2024, A.G. Cook co-produced Charli XCX's album Brat, lending his skills to Von Dutch, Club Classics, and B2B. The Von Dutch remix he did with Addison Rae was received well and garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording.

Production for Other Artists

Apart from his production with Charli XCX, A.G. Cook has worked with a variety of artists:

Beyoncé: Co-produced "All Up in Your Mind" from the album Renaissance (2022), which was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

Christine and the Queens: Contributed extra production on "Lick the Light Out" featuring Madonna on the album Paranoïa, Angels, True Love (2023).

Alaska Reid: Produced most of the album Disenchanter (2023).

Troye Sivan dropped "How to Stay With You" from the album Something to Give Each Other (2023).

Solo Performances and Musical Innovations

"Britpop" (2024)

A.G. Cook's third solo album, Britpop, came out in 2024 on his new record label, New Alias. The album contained 24 tracks divided into three discs that are reflective of his previous, current, and future discography. The title song includes vocals by Charli XCX and is a prime example of Cook's skill at merging retro elements with modern sounds. Critics have commended Britpop for its experimental production and genre-melding style, regarding it as one of Cook's best works to date.

In December 2023, Cook revealed that PC Music would cease releasing new music, closing the book on a significant chapter in experimental pop. He then established New Alias, a label dedicated to exploring new musical horizons and collaborations. This is a sign of Cook's commitment to developing as an artist and producer, always pushing the boundaries of contemporary music.

A.G. Cook's BRIT Awards 2025 Producer of the Year appointment is a reflection of his position in music production at present. From establishing PC Music and spearheading the hyperpop era to working with crossover acts and releasing trailblazing solo albums, A.G. Cook's productions have been notable within the industry. With new releases already set in motion to be handled by New Alias, his work in contemporary music is certain to leave a timeless mark.
