BTS’ Taehyung’s Layover, stylized as Layo(v)er, was released on September 8, 2023, as the K-pop idol’s debut studio album. The album features six tracks, including Love Me Again, Rainy Days and Slow Dancing.

Layover did well on its first day, selling over 1.67 million copies and setting a new record for the highest first-day sales by a solo K-pop artist in the history of the Hanteo chart. On April 5, 2025, @AboutThvmusic shared the news that Layover had become the first album by a pop soloist to have all its tracks reach 1 million streams in Spotify Japan’s history.

Fans of the singer swarmed the comments with congratulatory messages.

On August 8, 2024, BIG HIT Music announced that BTS’ V, aka Kim Taehyung, would drop his debut solo album in September of that year. They also teased the album’s tracks Rainy Days, Blue, Love Me Again, Slow Dancing, For Us, and the piano version of Slow Dancing.

The music label also advised fans to listen to the album’s songs in order. They also teased Slow Dancing as the album’s lead track. The song was described as:

"1970s romantic soul style track [that] exudes a laid-back and free-spirited feeling.”

A 15-second visualizer accompanied the announcement and showed a series of packages featuring the album floating onto the balcony of a building. The album’s title is shown in white letters, with the V left in purple.

Love Me Again from the album was described as a “captivating R&B track that highlights V’s low pitch voice.” "For Us, on the other hand, was described as a pop R&B track that serves as an epilogue, stirring up deep emotions with V’s vocals and unique lyrics.”

Upon Layover’s release, the album debuted at number two on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart. The album fared similarly on the Billboard 200 in the United States, debuting at number two.

The album sold more than 100,000 units in its first week and tied with Jimin and Suga’s releases. The album won Favorite Debut Album at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2024. The album was rated 82/100 by viewers on Metacritic. He was pleased with the reception of the album.
