System of a Down are back on the road for 2025. The beloved Armenian-American band has officially kicked off their "Wake Up! South American Stadium Tour."
Their setlist has been featured with fan favorites and relatively long-lost rare tracks, Consequence of Sound reports. It is worth noting that the group was largely quiet over the past few years, except for a couple of new songs in 2020. Hence, these shows might have been a significant event for longtime followers.
The band was formed in the mid-1990s in California. It is mainly known for its fusion of metal, punk, and Armenian folk genres. Some of their iconic albums are Toxicity (2001) and Mezmerize (2005). System of a Down is arguably one of the most recognizable names in the alternative metal scene.
However, they have released very little new music over the last two decades. This South American tour is hence their most extensive activity in years. A few big North American stadium dates are also scheduled later this year.
