Young Scooter, best known for his lead single, Colombia, tragically passed away on March 28, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also one of the first rappers to work with another Atlanta rapper, Nayvadius DeMun Cash, also known as Future.
Young's tragic and sudden death made waves online, where his fans and fellow artists mourned his loss. On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Future posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. His post read:
''I can hear u loud and clear my brother(street)…we got u kid.''
The statement could imply that Future is reassuring Young, or his fans and family, that his legacy will always be supported.
Future seemingly shows support for the late Young Scooter in an X post
The Atlanta rapper, Young Scooter, who made his entry as a guest in the 2018 song, Jet Lag, died on his 39th birthday. His tragic death involves a controversy around a false 911 call.
According to 11alive, on March 28, the Atlanta Police received a 911 call reporting domestic violence that involved a woman being dragged into the house, a child in her hand, and gunshots. The caller claimed that the fight could be over drugs and she also claimed that she heard three shots.
The police then went to William Nye Drive, and they did not find any shooting or domestic violence-like scene as described on the call. They however blocked off the area when two men ran from the back of the house. One of them returned and the other jumped off the fence.
The one who jumped off the fence was Young Scooter who had an injury on his thigh. He was taken to Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he was announced dead.
In a new conference, the Atlanta Police Homicide Commander, Lt. Andrew Smith, described the situation and said:
''When officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg. Officers rendered aid, and he was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.''
Later, the autopsy report revealed that Young died due to a severe injury on his thigh that was caused when he injured himself on a wooden fencing material. The police later discovered that the fabricated 911 call was from a woman named Demetria Spence. She was then arrested and charged.
The exact reason behind why Young Scooter was running from the police is not yet known. Young was, however, a prominent name in the hip-hop industry and had worked with renowned artists including Gucci Mane and Future, and his record label, Freebandz.
Future and Young Scooter were close friends and frequent collaborators. They collaborated on songs including Ooooooh, and Street Lottery. Future has also publicly shown love and support to Young in his past interviews and social media posts.
