Hailee Steinfeld has opened up about taking a break from music and focusing on her acting career.

The 28-year-old actress who stars in the upcoming action-thriller Sinners recently reflected upon her music hiatus in an interview with Collider. She said:

“I had taken a bit of a break from music, which was a very difficult decision to make, but I wanted to focus on my acting and was happy to be doing that."
"It goes without saying, but… music is a love of mine and a huge passion and something that has played a very strong role in my life in more ways than one, and having had the opportunity to make music through the years of my own is something I will never take for granted.”

She revealed how she is excited to sing a song for the film Sinners, which is called Dangerous. This marks her first music release in two years. She said:

“I was able to open the door again to work on something that I’m very, very, very excited about and can’t wait to share more with people. It’s been a long time, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it.”

What do we know about her latest track? Here are the details.

Exploring the details about Haillee Steinfeld’s upcoming soundtrack, Dangerous

Hailee Steinfeld's upcoming song Dangerous is an original track featured on the soundtrack of Ryan Coogler’s film Sinners, in which she also stars.

According to a report in Billboard, the song has been co-written by Sarah Aarons and the singer herself. The song has been produced by renowned composer Ludwig Göransson. The track features Steinfeld singing over a tribal drumbeat with an otherworldly production that complements the film's intense atmosphere.

“We were all so tuned into the vision, and because I was both inside the story as an actor, and helping shape it through music, it created this really fluid creative loop. Blending music and acting like this feels like the fullest expression of who I am. It’s rare to have a project that lets you show up completely — and Sinners gave me that.” She told Billboard.

She further added,

“Lyrically, I wanted to tap into Mary’s deep desire to be with Stack and (maybe selfishly) not always acknowledging what a dangerous position that puts them in. That sort of unrequited love. There’s a vulnerability in these characters that I really connected with, and I wanted my voice to reflect that.”
“Two years might not seem long, but for me, it turned out to be the exact amount of time I needed — to grow, live a little, and step back to reconnect with why I make music in the first place. I didn’t want to come back just to fill space. I wanted it to mean something,” She said on returning to music.

She shared the same with her fans on April 11, 2025, along with a caption.

“DANGEROUS from the SINNERS SOUNDTRACK OUT April 18th. It’s been a long two years away from music and I’m so beyond grateful for this moment.”

Her last singles were released in 2022, including SunKissing and Coast, which featured Anderson Paak. Sinners is all set to release on April 18, 2025. In addition to Steinfeld, the film stars Michael B. Jordan, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, and Miles Caton.
